I am looking at changing over to this reservoir. Does anyone know where I can get one. I am not sure of the part number. I know DR has them with his kits. I wasn't sure if they were an OEM part. Thanks in advance!

Probably is OEM. Maybe from a Mustang or F-150?

It does fit the 1993-97 Crown Victoria, I wasn't sure about the Town car. Fixing to shoot you a text.
Thanks

Keep me posted, I'd like to go with a bigger coolant reservoir as well (you know what they say; size DOES matter....). ;)

That's the one I currently have now. When I sold my A2A kit to Brad I let the reservoir (pictured) go with it. These tanks for the older vics will hold about 20 ounces more than the one I currently have. I'm working on a new H/E along with doing this at the same time to drop the IAT's. I'm also considering the KC that some have spoken about. Honestly, I can't wait to drive this Whipple in the colder weather. I have a feeling she will come to life! :D

My '94 Mercury Grand Marquis had that exact same coolant tank in it, stock. I imagine the same vintage Crown Vics had them too. I imagine it was probably used throughout the production run of 'aero' MGMs.
In other words, they should be easy to find in any boneyard.

Nice looking unit, for sure, but I think it's the same capacity as the OEM piece and therein lies the problem.

It's not specifically listed, but the info says "direct replacement" for OEM unit, and just eyeballing it, looks about the same size.

Nice! What's the fluid capacity of this one? (I'm thinking close to double that of the OEM Cobra unit.)

Good stuff.
I'm getting one, too. The extra coolant capacity has to be beneficial for heat exchange from the I/C system.

Do you mind me asking what your IAT's are running? I've got something I'm looking at but not positve yet on a new HE with fans. It's gonna be that or maybe the Killer Chiller. Just buying time. ;)

Did anybody get these installed yet and does anybody have any datalogs showing a decrease in IAT's, or at least a slower rise?
It's starting to warm up here and I'm trying to get my strategy together for the higher temps. Killer chiller isn't in the cards anytime soon, but this looks like it would help, but datalogs would be useful.

If you are thinking about using them as an intercooler reservoir, I would think twice. It's going to act like a huge heat sync being in the engine compartment, the fluid would spend more time in it than the small one and have more time to heat up. If you heat exchanger is the size of the radiator, then its a different story.

Maybe, but datalogs would tell the story. Without those, it's just guessing and theories.

Bingo. You could set a bathtub underneath the hood. It may take a few minutes more to heat up but once it does you are going to have the same problem. You need to think about ways to remove the hot water and cool it down.
BD Racing 5 Gallon Water to Air Intercooler Aluminum Tank Ice Box W/ Rule 3700
Martyo at one point used a trunk mounted intercooler tank in his award winning Marauder. Not sure about the long term results and hauling large ice coolers around can be costly and ineffective after 8 hours at the track.:twocents:

I did install the new reservoir under my hood and it gave me about 30 more ounces of fluid to help with cool down. However, I also went with a GT500 IC pump and a new Heat Exchanger. This was when is saw better IAT's.

Here's a couple of pictures of that older Panther reservoir on my car. The bottle was designed to remove bubbles, not have flow. I cut some of the baffles open to improve the flow through the bottle.

How did you guys mount the tank? I assume no brackets... Also, does our cap work on this tank or did you have to order a new one for the new tank? This is my first step towards s/c. A small step, but so the journey begins. :burnout:
