Could someone point me in the right direction to find out how the trunk light cuts off when closed? Is there a mercury switch or button that gets pressed to shut it off? Thanks

What he means is to get in it --close it and use flash light to see the answer---then try your factory trunk release to see if it works---hopefully it will--

The tech who installed my Viper alarm stated that the trunk has a mercury switch and not pin switch. He further tapped into it so that the siren will sound when the trunk is opened when the alarm armed.

I hope this helps a little but I could not tell you where this mercury switch is located...

Also, I think the LCM controls the interior lights and trunk light because after a set number of minutes if any of these lights are illuminated it will shut them all off to save your battery from draining/dying.

Maybe PM Jim, aka Fastblackmerc, he will have more knowledge on this as he rebuilds/fixes LCMs and has his LED light kits for interior/exterior.

This is partially correct, the circuit is timed, but the switch is inside the latch assembly. Ford quit using mercury switches years ago.
