Before I get scolded, I did all the searches but I cannot seem to find answers to my specific problem.

What I got:
HVAC only blows hot air...I mean REALLY hot. Air blows out of the correct locations (ie vents, defrost, max a/c, etc...). Compressor definitely kicks on and is working but cold air does not make it into car.

What I've already done:
I replaced the o-rings in the EATC. I've also had the blend door motor replaced. I've run the diagnostic on the EATC numerous times. When car is 1st started, I get 024 and 025. Once cleared, when I run diagnostic again I only get 024. I've actually gotten cold air to blow 2 or 3 times by clearing the code over and over, then exiting out by hitting blue, "cold" button but it's short lived. Any adjustment turns it scalding hot again.

It seems obvious that the blend door is, or becomes, stuck on "hot", but why? What to check? Before I replace EATC or have my mechanic remove the dash (again!), should I be checking for vacuum leak? I'm already down several hundred dollars on a car I'm trying to sell (this all went down the week I put it up for sale). Needless to say, it's tough to sell a car with no a/c in the summer (no, I don't want to wait until winter to sell ). I'm getting kinda irritated

Is the compressor running?

Yes. You hear it click on, volts drop a little and if you let it "run" for a little, there's a puddle of water below the car.

99.9% sure problem is with blend door. Motor already changed. Thinking about swapping the EATC before I have my mechanics dig into the dash again. I read on another thread that the air box can warp....maybe that's hanging-up the blend door?

I would buy another member dinner, and ask him if I could try his EATC (that you know works) in my car before I went any further. Find an EATC that works and try that is what I'm saying.

Conveniently you 2 live far enough away for me to ask you  ---> :D

Whaddya say, Northeasterners?!? Anyone want to rip their dash apart for little old me??? (It's a joke people).

I know....it sucks! That's why I'm slow to just buy another EATC. I'm not convinced that's the problem. Seems to me the blend door is getting hung-up. But, then again, if the door is not getting proper vacuum from EATC due to a small crack, it wouldn't work either

The blend door is electrically controlled with the blend door actuator, could be a problem with the electrical inside the EATC. I had that issue with the oe one in my car

 I do love that car!

She's still under construction, which is kinda on hold until I sell my Marauder, which is in limbo because of this :censor: a/c issue....thus my frustration!

:help:
I'll keep posting up about this until either: A) I fix the a/c, B) someone chimes in with "Oh yeah, that happened to me. You just gotta replace <X> part" or C) I friggin' give up....

Earlier today, I was running the diagnostic on the EATC. I forgot and shut the car off in the middle of the search. A few hours later, I turned the car on and heard "noise" (ie creaking of doors) under the dash. I hit "automatic", lowered the temp to 60 and....TADA!!! Cold air!. I let it run for several minutes without so much as revving the engine; stayed cold. Put it in "drive", still OK. As soon as I started to move, it turned hot. When I came to a stop sign about a minute later, it seemed like it wanted to go cold again. It didn't get cold, but it was far less hot. Since I couldn't just sit there, I started to drive again and it went hot. I fiddled with the EATC a little (temp up, temp down, vent, automatic, etc...), stayed hot.

WTF...over. Sound even a little familiar to anyone?

Could be vacuum leak or bad blend door.

Could be vacuum leak or bad blend door.

Since wickedmerc has already had the o-rings changed on his EATC, where else would one find a vacuum leak? I'm guessing he'd have to have the dash apart to find the leak, or could the leak be under the hood somewhere fastblackmerc?

The dash or under the hood.

Thanks guys. I have a used EATC coming, I'll try that 1st. If that doesn't work, I'll have my mechanics check vacuum lines under the dash. Also, check blend door operation, make sure it isn't getting stuck.
I'll keep you posted.

The dash or under the hood.

What about the cracked ETAC head I saw someone posting about? With the crack, even new Orings won't help... :dunno:

Good Luck! :coolman:

Sounds to me like your car is mad at you for putting it up for sale, shades of Christine. Wait till it blows HOT and the electric locks lock with you in the car. Get a bulldozer quick ;)

Already had blend door motor replaced. Bad motor?

Hahahaaaa...DEFINITELY crossed my mind. The timing of all this crap is very interesting.

The dash or under the hood.

So for those who experience A/C issues and have had either their EATC replaced or the o-rings replaced, checking under the hood should be the next step before pulling apart the dash... first time I've read that, good to know I must say.

Thanks fastblackmerc!

:censor: :censor: :censor: and damnit!

Wasn't the EATC! :mad2:
Looks like I'm paying a few hundred $$ to have dash taken apart....again!! I'll ask to have (the new) blend door motor checked. Also door operation.
Boy am I gettin' tired of this.
