Ok, so last weekend I had to dodge an idiot in a Honda CRV only to then have to slam on the brakes because of stopped cars I couldn't see around. I skidded into a big curb, mangled the rim that was there to replace the previously mangled rim because of a massive pothole (fortunately not as bad this time), and put a slight gouge in the tire. I'm getting the alignment taken care of today now that I finally found the Carfixer specs again. However, now I have this really odd squeak coming from the front right that only shows up when I make left turns, but only when the wheel is turned to the left in a specific range. If I turn far enough to the left it goes away. Can anyone give me an idea on what I should be checking? I'm just hoping that I'm not going to have to do ball joints and everything all over again since I replaced all of them plus the lower right control arm last spring.

Streering rack/tie rod ends?

I'm not sure that's what's squeaking. It seems more of a squeak from a rotating part. I'm starting to lean towards the hub being damaged.

im gonna go with tie rod ends. If the hub/bearing is damage you will almost always get a roaring/growling noise around 55 mph. Usually it gets louder and louder the faster you go.

So, the tie rod ends can do a "squeak squeak squeak squeak" kind of noise while in a turn?

when holding the wheel steady... no, when turning the wheels yes.

if its a rotational noise then you might want to check the dust shield behind the rotor for it making contact with the rotor.

Does it make any noise going down the highway?

jack up the front on both sides (one at a time is fine, just get the tire off the ground) and grab the tire at 12 and 6 positions and pull and push, like your trying to wiggle the wheel off the car, and if there is play top and or bottum the bearing is damaged, if you grab at 3 and 9 positions and do the same test and there is play then you have some tie rod damage/play.

Ah yes, I'm familiar with this. I just didn't think of it for some reason. This was how I found out that my ball joints on the passenger side were shot. As soon as I can take some time to check this out I'll be doing it.

Ok, well it took forever before both my free time and the weather cooperated, but I was able to check the wheel. There is a good amount of play going fro side-to-side, so it looks like the outer tie rod end is in bad shape. Fortunately there are quite a few sales going on today to I managed to get a Moog replacement outer tie rod end for $40. I'll just need to get in for an alignment soon after I get the new part in.

New outer tie rod in and there's a lot less play in the wheel, but there's still some play. The squeak isn't gone, but it's not as loud. I also checked the dust shield and there's some good clearance between it and the rotor. It looks like I have to do ball joints now. I'm really not wanting to because I just replaced them all a year ago.
