I'm pretty sure it's a vacuum related issue.

The past 2-3 weeks I have noticed when I turn my defroster on and set it to high it won't blow out at high speed. Vent and floor seem unaffected and blow out from low to high fan speed.

Then yesterday as I pulled into my driveway, I put it in park and the rpms shot up to between 1287 and 1307, I put it in neutral with no change in the rpms and lastly cycled it through forward and reverse gears and the rpm went back down to around 875 which is what I have it set at.

Started the car up this morning, let idle for 10 mins and it was fine and acting completely normal, got to work and still acted normal.

I only thing I did do differently yesterday was finding myself in a nice long open and empty stretch of highway and went WOT from 53 to 115.

Pop the intake tube off the MAF or ever clean the TB blades?

MAFS, IAC and TB are cleaned every 6 months.

Mine started doing that every now and then and after IAC Valve change and cleaning MAF I tried TPS and I guess after almost 242K miles it was worn a bit 'cause a new one fixed it right up!!:banana2:

I will clean everything again and test the TPS.

+1 on the IAC change. The IAC consists of a plunger/valve made of a phenolic material. Once that cracks or chips, no amount of cleaning will restore your idle.

Op check the ac compressor. Mine went out the day before you posted this. Now experiencing the same issue you are. Does it after a slow crawl like parking lot or down a driveway. Clutch doesn't engage, but pulley spins enough not to shred belt.

Mine did the same and as most of the others said, a new IAC and cleaning out all the ports took care of it..
