So, i attempted to teach my niece how to drive, figured she was at the right age, i remember my dad letting me drive his 65 coronet w/a bored 440 in the local cemetary, i instrucked the the brake is you safety, hit the brakes in time of panic, we she took.a corner and did real good, left over right while turing, both hands on the wheel, however she.kept turning and we found ourselved in my neboiers yard and luckly the tree was there or we would have hit is house.
Anyway, i guess I'm posting this to get suggestings. don't know if i want to call gieco and have an adjuster look at it, and leave the car with a guy i don't know for a week or two,... or buy a new fender and door. and bring it to my buddy for a new paint job, I'm thinking grabber blue w/ black strips.... it'll be a little more if i do it myself. thanks for the input.
also, is the vic doors the same as the MM?

Based on the pic, I would be looking for some front tires too, they look a little sparse to me in the tread department, Sorry for your situation.

So you want to call GEICO and ask them to pay for your allowing an underage person to drive a car with bald tires? The lawyer in me says that that is a bad idea...... There may even be a criminal aspect to doing this, but hey what do I know.
Meanwhile our body shop is in Cartersville, GA and can make that car look better than new. Let me know if you are interested.

Not to be an ass, but you let a first time driver take your pride and joy for a ride??? WTF were you thinking? How about a huge open parking lot when the place is closed?
Anyways to answer your question, I would buy the parts and have them painted, instal them myself. I have never found any body shop who's employees give a **** about what they work on. They are usually not "car guys" and its only a job. I find if I do all my own work and pay big for the paint I can get the results I want.

Take it easy on this guy. We all have memories of sitting on a phone book driving or our dads letting us drive the car in his lap while he worked the throttle. Hell I learned to drive a 125cc bike when I was 8 and I couldn't touch the ground. Mind you it was on a 5 acre field.
It sucks that his MM took the hit but it can be fixed and you both will have one hell of a story to tell for the rest of your lives. My son has learned on my MM but it was in an empty parking lot…

We use open fields and old pickup trucks for driver training here. Alot less damage that way. Straight shift not auto, they only have to learn to drive one time that way. Sorry about your car. Bring it dents and all to breakfast on the 18th.

Nice Paul!!! :D
Martin is right, of course he has just a smidgeon of legal knowledge here. ;) In my state, we don't require a learners permit, but, you HAVE to be 15 years and 6 months old to get behind the wheel with a licensed adult that's at least 25yo and has had their license for at least three years.
OP, you're better off deleting your post, hoping there's no witnesses and saying you got your shoelace caught in the gas pedal.

I still say .. get her back on that horse.. before she loses her nerve.. and winds up being one of those drivers that is behind the wheel,, but not really driving just hanging on.. kinda like my ex-wife. She would go around a clover leaf on the freeway three or four times before she got the nerve to merge..

The point is he made a decision that others wouldn't, including me. But calling him names and saying things like "Wow...what were you thinking?" serves NO purpose...what's done is done and that can't be changed. All I can say (constructively) is I'm glad only the MM got banged up...a lot worse could've happened.

He posted on here for advice on what he should do to fix his car...in return he gets called dip*****, dumba$$, etc...it just didn't sit well with me.

First of all, he posted up his big mistake on line, which is a big mistake IMHO. Second, negative feedback is sometimes a good learning tool and third, unlike you, he has taken all this with good grace. He seems pretty fine with the feed back, but I would respectfully suggest that you are over reacting just a teeny bit.....the dreaded holier than thou. But you do drive a SB and everyone knows that makes us a special breed so I have to cut you some slack. :D

Sorry, but I disagree...I'm not acting like I'm holier than thou, I'm sticking up for a fellow MMer, IMHO. I mentioned that I didn't agree with his decision, but that's all that needs to be said. Calling someone names a good learning tool? I think the guy is sharp enough to realize that his decision may not have been a good one.
You have your opinion on this matter and I have mine (as well as everyone else); there's no 'right' or 'wrong' here...we just see things differently in this case. I just felt the name-callling was a bit overboard...

Everyone makes mistakes, i for one did when i bouhgt my MM and used it as a daily driver, some day ill own my dpb with light flint and have that be my trailer queen, but for now its just an ugly blk MM with nothing but cosmetic damage that i can find parts for. Nothing MM specific was damaged. rare car, yes, fun car, yes, soon to to be looking like a bad blk spawn again, yes. Like master sgt said, it was my choice, and I'm paying for it, lessoned learned.

I suggest a large parking lot with a tight cone course with a break left then right and STOP or a break right then left STOP. She won't know which way she needs to steer untill the last possible second when you inform her... :) BTW she has to maintain 25-30 MPH unroll you shout which direction. This was part of my drivers Ed that really sharpened my reflexes.

The first time I got behind the wheel was in my driver's ed class in high school. A month later when I was doing the open road test, I about s hit my britches...I was on the interstate doing 57mph!!!...in a pick-up truck!!! I was sooo stressed...I was expecting a bunch of state troopers to pop up out of nowhere because I was speeding.
Needless to say, I wish I would have had a little 'experience' under my belt before Driver's Ed...at least my brother-in-law (who died 4 years later) took the time one Saturday to teach me how to drive stick shift...

On a bright note, it doesnt look like you damaged anything Marauder specific. Doors and quarter pannels are a dime a dozen for this body style.
On an even brighter note, its good to hear no one was hurt. Your ego on the other hand may not be feeling so good at the moment.

Age behind wheel is only relevant on public roads, on private property n/a.
I started "driving" at 4. Sitting on dad's lap in a VW Beetle. 1st trip around the subdivision in Fox River Grove IL I turned too soon & put it in the ditch instead of the driveway. Dad laughed & we pulled it out with the Rambler wgn.
I could drive stick by age 5. Was riding motorcycle around grandparents property solo at 8.
One of my favorite memories was when around 5/6 sitting on dads lap in 57 Olds trying to steer and keep it straight. Any one old enough to know the vehicle will understand that that was no easy thing to do - 100% power steering. I think Olds only ran that 1 year. You have no road feel so not east to keep straight!

The first time I got behind the wheel (except sitting in the driveway listening to the stereo) was in my driver's ed class in high school. A few days later when I was doing the open road test, I was so ready to rock that I volunteered to go first...I was on the freeway doing 70mph!!!...in some sort of little 4 door commuter car. I was sooo excited...I wasn't at all concerned that a bunch of CHiPs would pop up out of nowhere because I was too busy having the time of my life. Wow! What a ride, and what a way to have the joy of suceeding right off the bat.
Needless to say, I'm glad I had a positive learning 'experience' under my belt by learning to drive in Driver's Ed....later after mastering an automatic, my dad bought me a Opal Manta and took the time after work and on Saturdays to teach me how to drive stick shift...just sayin.:D

When someone's bad judgement risk the lives of others I tell them they were stupid! I am not going to approve of risking others by being silent.
In todays touchy feely world no one is responsible for anything.
When I did stupid things, particularly those that risked others, my friends and family all told me how stupid I was. It is or was the penalty you paid for being stupid.

Hope you get her fixed up easy enough. Now a built MM with 450 to the wheels? I wouldn't even try that with my 13 year old boy. Too much, too quick.

On a scale of 1 to dumb this idea was completely RETARDED. Im sorry and i feel terrible about that car but hell let her drive the DD or some junk car first at 12. And never in a neighborhood. What if kids were out playing and she hit one or something? So many terrible things could have happened. Think first my friend think!
