Out playing in the rain a bit ago, and I goosed it. The the tires started spinning, but the traction control never kicked in. The light on the dash started blinking, but power was never cut. The tires were spinning pretty quickly, easily enough that the traction control should've come in to calm things down.
Does the TCS on this car work by cutting spark or applying brakes?
Anyone else run into this problem before?

Anyone else run into this problem before? It applies braking IIRC.

If the light was flashing, the T/C was working. The system uses the ABS and wheel sensors to detect wheel spin. It will make adjustments many times per second to apply the rear brakes and cut engine torque via spark and fuel injection management. Its in the owner's manual.
Wheel spin is generally detected through a differential between the left and right sides. If both tires were spinning about equally, you may not have been able to detect the T/C action. However, if the light was blinking .... it was activated. JMHO. During this time, you could not increase RPMs no matter how hard you mashed the pedal.
