Okay, so the dates and venues for Hot Rod Power Tour 2013 have been announced.

They are as follows:

Saturday June 1: Arlington, TX

Sunday June 2: Texarkana, AR

Monday June 3: Little Rock, AR

Tuesday June 4: Memphis, TN

Wednesday June 5: Birmingham (Hoover), AL

Thursday June 6: Chattanooga, TN

Friday June 7: Charlotte, NC

You can read more: http://www.hotrod.com/eventcoverage/hrdp_1206w_2013_power_tour_dat es_cities/#ixzz23YKSviGM

I plan on attending this one for sure since it is so close to us here in the South. I will probably join the Tour in Memphis and follow at least to Chattanhooga, if not all the way through to the end in Charlotte.

Of course going on the Tour means that we will need another Wagon to rock. :worship:

So our best candidate is the '65 Falcon Wagon that I already have.

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/Falcon%20Wagon.JPG?m=133419356 9

I also recenlty bought this Fox Body GT, which I am going to use as a donor car.

The plan is to take the 5.0 motor, AOD trans, rear end, and processor from the Fox Body and transplant it into the Falcon. Of course we will keep the AC on the Falcon and it already has a pretty decent stereo.

I will keep this thread updated as the progress goes on.

I kinda am. What are you looking for for a set of them? My 89 convertible still has the old phone dial wheels, and I've always liked the looks of those.

I had a '65 Fairlane wagon with a 289, 3 speed-overdrive, loved that car, and surprised more than a couple folks with it... ;)

Well, the build of the HRPT2013 MO Speed Wagon has begun!!

I woke up yesterday morning to this poor unsuspecting girl sitting in the driveway:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_1-44791159.JPG?m=1352815713

We started by unbolting this date coded '65 motor and C4 trans out of her:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_2-945619682.JPG?m=1352815712

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_1-2137375493.JPG?m=1352815345

The motor and trans are for sale for $500 if anyone is interested. They both run great.

And we were left with this hole to fill......

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_2-1060286939.JPG?m=1352815647

Next we rolled in the '89 GT so that she could give up her heart and soul so that the Wagon could continue to rock on!

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_1-445978801.JPG?m=1352815259

And Brandon, Jeff and I hauled the 5.0 out of the donor car:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_3-120622248.JPG?m=1352815259

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_4.JPG?m=1352815178

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_3.JPG?m=1352815178

Now, here is where we got lucky, the 5.0 turns out to be a low mileage reman'd motor done right here in the good ol' U.S. of A.!!!

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_5.JPG?m=1352815178

Even the plugs on the block were still sparkling!

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_2-1101940084.JPG?m=1352815178

So, we are on a roll! We have headers on the way and next week we will start prettying up the motor and getting it ready to be set into the Wagon.

Is it June 2013 yet????????

Marty I am thinking Little Rock or Memphis if all works well. I dropped the Marquis off today for the new tranny and a Gear Venders over drive. If this all works as planned the car should be ready in plentyof time to get her shake down runs.

So yesterday we tore down the motor and resealed it and freshened it up and made it look pretty:

Then we set the motor in the car:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/Falcon%20-%203.JPG?m=1353417945

The motor looks right at home in the car and this is how it looked when the day ended:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/Falcon%20-%2013.JPG?m=1353417949

Last night I ordered the next round of parts (fuel tank sender, fuel pump, filters, trans filter, etc.). And we will be back on it next week.

Our next big step will be getting these two guys to be friends with each other: :D

I plan on keeping the wheels as is unless the rear end turns out to be a weak link and I have to swap rears. Then I will have to swap wheels too. Plus the car has brand new Michelins on it so it drives decently on them.

Why don't you fly down to Casa de Mo's and then ride with us?we have a bunch of cars going. And yes, I am serious!

Got another chunk of the work done yesterday.

We built the trans cross member, reconfigured the parking brake, prepped and installed the driveshaft, replaced the fuel sender, ran the feed and return fuel lines, pump and filter, installed the starter and did most of the wiring for it, and a few other odds and ends.

We also measured for a new radiator. I ordered up a larger Afco radiator and we will need to do some modifications but it will fit. This will go a long way toward keeping the car cool too.

We checked out the 8 inch rear end and while it is in good shape it has a 3.00 gear in it, so I am not thrilled with that and I think we will swap out to a numerically higher gear and go with something like a 3.55. I need to dig up a decent set of gears or else I will have to *gasp* buy a new set.

Not a lot of pictures were taken yesterday but here are a few of the trans cross member going to gether and the reconfigured parking brake set up:

Well, yesterday was another one of those days where stuff was not really picture worthy, but here is some of what we did:

- modifiy core to accept the Fox body radiator
- fabricate mounts and install the fox body radiator
- install upper and lower radiator hoses
- remove heater core and heater box assembly (it is trashed and I need all new stuff, but I already have a lead on the parts I need -- yeah for the internet!!!)
- fabricate trans lines (we did not like the way the first set came out)
- install GM style one-wire alternator
- begin installing engine harness and pass through firewall, including pinning out wires for further wiring
- drink half a case of Diet Mountain Dew

And a couple of pictures:

Got a bunch more done yesterday although nothing was picture worthy.

The transmission linkage brackets are fabbed and the linkage is all hooked up and shifting properly.

The power steering lines was fabbed and is installed.

The transmission cooler is mounted and plumbed.

We installed the crank pulley and Flex-A-Lite fan and sized and routed the belt.

We completed the wiring on the fuel pump.

I had a new AC line fabbed up for better routing and that is installed.

We started fitting and fabbing the fan shroud.

Most importantly, we did more wiring and pinning on the processor and the car now cranks and runs!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

The good news is that our list is getting shorter and shorter.

We still have to build teh exhaust but we have a pretty good start on that, finish teh fan shroud installation, build a power pipe, install the heater core and the new heater box and plenum (the 50 year old factory stuff has turned to dust!), freshen up the front suspension bushings and idler arm, and a few other details like that.

We are running ahead of schedule with this project and I am very happy with teh way the car is coming out.

I can not wait for June!!!!!!

Well today was very productive.

We knocked off a lot of items on the list including swapping the trans pan, fabbing the first part of the fan shroud, reinstalling a new heater box, blower motor, and heater core, installing all of the heater hoses, some detail wiring, and a bunch of other stuff like that.

The good news is at the end of the day, the car cranked and ran. I drove it from my home shop to the commercial shop. I was running it with open headers and it was LOUD!!!!

Our list is getting shorter but here are the bigger pieces left to get done:

Fab power pipe
Fab and install exhaust
Dyno and street Tune
Install idler arms and front bushings, and alignment
Complete fan shroud
Finishing touches

Needless to say I am pleased because we are wayyyyyy ahead of schedule.

So the car is fully operational now.

We have been driving it around to get some mileage on it. In fact there are rumors floating around that we had the ol' wagon well into the triple digits and the car still had plenty of power left!!!

So here is what we handled over the New Year's holiday:

We permanently mounted the PCM in the floor board and built a panel over it, we charged and tested the AC (it is ice cold!!), fab'd up the power pipe and brought it through the fender well, hooked up the oil and temp sensors, did some clean up wiring, adjusted the brakes and the TV cable for the trans, fabricated the catch can and battery hold down, and did a bunch of other small stuff.

The things we have worked on work as they should. When the AC is flipped on the PCM picks up the idle RPM. All of the dash gauges and idiot lights work - fuel, temp, and oil.

Now that the first of the year is past I am hoping that I can get in touch with Crites and discuss getting a 'glass hood (I am thinking an AFX style). Also my bumpers have shipped from California and I should have them soon. I am having trouble getting the passenger side rear door to line up, so I will have our body man Derrick handle that. Also, the rear window is power and acting a little flakey from time to time so I have a motor for it heading my way (I have a replacement planetary gear set for it already in my parts collection (it's good to hoard!).

Here are a few pics to look at:

The motor:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/albums/Falcon-Wagon/vi-Gallery%20Image-26811779.jpeg?m=1357025338

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/albums/Falcon-Wagon/vi-Gallery%20Image-1434139355.jpeg?m=1357025366

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/albums/Falcon-Wagon/vi-Gallery%20Image-1950712447.jpeg?m=1357025378

The PCM in the floor board:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/albums/Falcon-Wagon/vi-Gallery%20Image-2031811722.jpeg?m=1357025416

The floor plate over the PCM -- yep we are NOT carpenters and we snatched the fiber board from our neighbor's carpentry scrap bin!

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/albums/Falcon-Wagon/vi-Gallery%20Image-1466907032.jpeg?m=1357025513

And the completed floor with the hidden PCM and you can see the reproduction heater box:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/albums/Falcon-Wagon/vi-Gallery%20Image-1910058280.jpeg?m=1357025490

My plan now is to keep putting mileage on it and shake any kinks out. I will also have to decide whether to put a numerically higher gear in it and wether to do a disk brake conversion on the front.

Jeff is after me to do a wheel swap on it to. This is how the current wheels look (they are in decent shape but they look better in the picture than they actually are):

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/albums/Falcon-Wagon/Falcon%20Wagon.JPG?m=133419356 9

I am torn whether to do a wheel swap at all but the car may ride a little better on something taller than the current 14 inch tires that are on it, although it has a brand new set of Michelins on it that ride nice.

So, let's hear the comments!

We are already starting to think about what to do with my '66 Ranch Wagon next. There are some pictures up on Yellow Bullet of a bad ass diesel powered wagon so we are thinking of doing a 6.0 diesel swap in it! So if anyone knows of a wrecked 6.0 Ford Diesel truck that I can get the running gear out of, Let me know!!!!

Very, very nice Marty. I think you should stay with the theme on the wheels and go with the honeycomb GT wheels. They are my favorites. See in how this is somewhat of a resto-mod, the GT wheels would top it off and would be a lot safer when you decide to bring it into triple digits with a higher speed rated tire. Not to mention the handling bonuses.

I've been following this thread since the begining and this is by far one of my favorites to have followed this year. I love wagons. ;)

Thanks Bob!

The H pipe/balance tube will be going in tomorrow. The key is placement and the exhaust system needs to burn in so we can see where it needs to be placed.

Going with that tall a tire poses additional modification issues that I did not want to confront. I may try to see if a 16 will fit but that would be the max. Keep in mind that this car has a 1,500 mile trip ahead of it so slamming it is not in the plans.

The next one I do up like this may get more of the suspension treatment which will mean BIGGER wheels.

So Jeff had the car for the last few days as his daily driver. While he had it he decided to put a '67-'68 F body front spoiler on it. I think it looks great and it will go well with the teardrop hood I am having made by Crites (it takes about 6 weeks to get the hood, so it will be a little while before I get it).

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo_2-1599497404.JPG?m=1358522527

Yeah, i know the bumpers have cooties but teh replated ones are sitting in teh shop until we get everything else finished up.

Jeff also decided to cut down the big '67 stylle horn pad that was on the car when I got it. It looks pretty good too:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/photo-361837938.JPG?m=1358431965

And last night I do what I do best and patriolled eBay for some detail items to add to the car.

I am putting this intake plaque on it:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/%24%28KGrHqJ%2C%21jYF%217QbzP1 rBQel%2COz%2CRg~~60_57.jpg?m=1 358448874

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/Falcon-Wagon/Vacuum%20Gauge.jpg?m=135852252 7

Got a call from 03mmmonroe last night, he was still a couple hours outside of Dallas.

Asked him to take plenty of pics, and I hope the rest of you folks that are attending will do the same.

Did anyone make the Arlington-Texarkana run ? The weather forecast was lousy but turned out pretty good here. Was wondering how the enroute weather was. Sure would have liked to join you. Hope the whole tour has good weather. Keep us posted with pictures. Be safe. Maury

Maury I drove up this morning. Didn't make the whole run but joined the route in Daingerfield. MartyO, since this is your thread I think it would be appropriate to say that I stopped at the McDs in Daingerfield, and the car that I parked beside was a Falcon wagon just like yours!

I did see 03mmmonroe there with another member - I'm not sure who. The other member had lost an axle and bearing and they were replacing the axle at a vendor's tent on the midway. The axle looked really bad. I've replaced a total of 6 axles on my Marauders and that one looked worse than any of mine. I imagine it was making A LOT of noise.

It's like going to Barrett-Jackson - you just want to give up as soon as you walk in - it's just TOO MUCH! But I did try to see it all. I love the rare and unusual, and there's lots of it there. Two Pacers that I saw! How's that for weird?

I never did find Pat.
