While replacing my front shocks today I found this. The bottom mount on the shock looks like it has caved into the shock tube. Good thing I decided to replace them. I've only started to pass side and already ran into problems. I got the upper balljoint about halfway loose and the little allen key hole they give you to hold it from spinning decided to strip:mad2: so I had to cut the ball joint out. Then I broke the swaybar link:censor:.......so I decided to stop and work on it another day. So my big question is now that I have the shock/spring assembly out, when I compress the spring and install the new shock. How do I line up the new shock with the spring assembly so that all the bolts will line up on reinstall back into the car?

The top three studs only fit one way IIRC Just mark the outside edge when you reassemble. Also, I find it easier to take out the two upper control arm bolts rather than the ball joint nut, but that's just my preference. After taking a couple dozen of these cars apart, that just seems quickest.

Thanks for the tip Justbob, I will def do that on the drivers side. The ball joints are still good so I think for right now I'm going to get a balljoint press to get the damaged pass side joint out and just replace that one for now.

I have a swaybar end link if you need it. I just need to put it in a box and send it.

I was thinking of upgrading both sides to new moog links because the factory ones look very weak. Thanks for the offer.

It was less time and only $10.00 more for the control arm and ball joint with a lift time warranty. Moog parts.
