Howdy all. I'm brand new to this forum and this is my very first post. I'm doing my research before buying a Marauder. Which year model does everyone recommend? The 2003 or the 2004 model? What are the advantages or disadvantages of each if any? Anything to look for or stay away from? Thanks.

Trans was a little better in 2004 and if it's a black your looking for the paint as well was better in 2004 . Happy hunting and welcome to the site .

You'd be happy with either one. The differences between the years are minor and really not worth mentioning. Find a nice one and go for it.

Did the 04 have options for sunroof heated seats? I like the 03 300a for remote fuel door. Full spare. Full upper console

The paint on my 03's are actually very nice for 10 year old cars.
Plus in 03 they didn't have traction contro, don't want it..
+1 on the find a nice car and buy it.

The early (300A) 03s didn't have TC, the 300Bs did, but I agree, I could do without it.

Prolly the most important thing is to buy one that has been well maintained. In general these engines are very reliable so don't shy away from a nice car with higher mileage (even over 100k). If you can find one for sale by a mm.net member, it may be easier to get a good history on it. If you find one out of your area, see if there is a member who lives near enough to check it out for you. We are a 2 Marauder household and have one of each year. Other than color and a few interior differences/gas cap/TC.. if you blindfolded me I'd say they operate and drive very much the same. We love them both. Good luck finding your Marauder!

I have an early 03, no traction control, full upper console, full size spare, and locking fuel door. I am happy with it. My paint isn't great though.

Let me ask this side question if you don't mind . With the blue mm were there 300a and 300b's ? Or one of the other because there were so few made.

All Blue MMs were '03 300B models.

My 03 300A paint is much better than my 04 Black. Just looking till you find one you like.

I like all the little extras on the 300A that were deleted by the bean counters to pay for traction control. Paint issues were not limited to '03's only. I've seen the same exact issue, worse than mine was, on an '04.

My picky ash self has stayed in the early 300A's... staying in the manufacture dates of mid 2002 .... dunno why its just how I be and such ...

Thanks for all the info. Now after reading all this, how do I tell if the car is a 300A or a 300B ?

Pretty much the fastest, easiest way is all 300A's have the clock in the center of the dash and have map pockets on the front edge of the front seats. The 300B's, the clock was moved into the radio (by the way, if so inclined, by putting a ground lead in the connector at the radio will turn on the clock feature in the 300A's).

Some in-between cars built about November or December 2002 (excat dates are on MM.net somewhere) have a mix of A and B features. There are only about 15 or 20 of those cars so chances are you won't run into one. All 2004's are 300B's.

The heated seats were on a lot more 2004's than 2003's, so if that is a must have then 2004 is a better choice. Having both years, they are the same car..

All 2004's are 300B's.

Actually, all 2004 MMs are 300A's; but have the same features/characteristics as the 2003 300B's. There was only one "job" in 2004.

Yes, Your right. That's what I meant. Used the B designation to avoid confusion with what standard equipment was installed....all 2004's are the same

I just bought a 2003 300a. The paint looks great (heard there were issues on some in 03 tho). Not sure about the differences between the 4R70W and the 4R75W trans. I love mine, I'm sure whatever one you choose you will too!

Grab either, Marauder's are a hot car. Once you get one you'll wonder why you waited so long. Get in, buckle up and enjoy the ride!
