Ran my car last night for the first time since getting S/C'd.
Russ and I went up to Z-Max for their last summer T&T. Over 140 cars showed up, and I got there late, but I did manage to get in three runs.
First run, right off the drive from GVL was a 13.7, best run as 13.27. High IAT on all runs (138 - 140), but it was still fun.
Gotta do it again when the weather cools down.

Barry, Cruzetaker, ran faster then that N/A in 2004.
Hey Rex glad to see you finally made it to the track...
Any chance you could post your best time slip? Since I've never ran 1/4mi, I'd like to see how mine compared to yours in the 1/8 mi ...

He has the fastest N/A record of all time for all Marauders!
I hope to run a 13.7 N/A soon. ;)
Guessing you were running street tires???

Also wondering what your sixty foot looked like, and was traction an issue?

Practice makes perfect Rex. Glad you did some runs, how did you hook, if your tires were spinning that could account for the time

Yeah, running my street tires and a trunk full of stuff as well.
Had to pedal it out of the hole, different running S/C than N/A for sure; used to be just a slight power brake to load the torque converter and then nail it on the third yellow. That technique don't work so good no more...;) ------> :burnout:
Will post up the timeslip when I get home.

Yup, he's got 'em in, but still needs to get them degreed. Currently running .5 slower than before the install.

LOL, I've pulled a best of 1:87 on the original style BFGs, here's how I launch...
I drive through the water box(can't bypass it at my track), burn 'em dry then roll SLOWLY to the line... This cools the tires and picks up some traction compound... When staged, I hold brake, bring the revs to around 1200-1500, release the brake on last yellow and roll into the throttle, pedal matted at approx 20-30ft out ... How quickly you roll into the throttle will determine on multiple factors, you'll have to learn your car...

If the day ever comes that you can give DR's a try, I highly suggest you at least try one launch right from idle. I dropped to consistent .5 better times and dropped from high 1.8's to mid 1.7's on the 60! It all depends on your car obviously.. Tune, boost, suspension.. Every car is gonna have a different sweet spot. I just don't get the same punch in the gut when tacking it up.

Rex, let's see the timeslip.
I am betting your 60' sucked and that is one the defining factors in your over all performance.

You need to practice launching the car and you would see your ET's come way down.

Agreed. This was my first time out with the car S/C'd, so I definitely need to get some practice launching it, the old N/A method doesn't work so well anymore...:burn:-------> :o

Ummm, short time could be better, I'm guessing it laid down a bit on the top end but since I've never run mine 1/4 mi, I can only judge by my 5.0 T-Bird... It's run 8.42@82.99 in the 1/8, & 13.11@105.3 in the 1/4(that was on same 1/4 run)... Best for the Marauder is 8.41 1/8 and 84.99 Mph(or exactly two MPH faster than the Bird), I know it can likely run quicker... When I was bracket racing, I've dragged the brakes to a 8.42 to be sure not to run out(had 8.38 on the window)...

Sooo jealous. I would love to have been there with you guys. 100 lbs. can equal .1 sec. Put the car on a diet (remove spare, trunk organizer, etc.) and run with about 1/4 tank. Fuel is 8 lbs per gallon. I run about 14 psi in rear tires to hook. Gets a little squiggly on the top end. Practice, practice, practice.

This is what I ran with KDW2 back in 2005;
R/T .191, 60' 1.881, ET 12.862 @106.71.
You can run a good 60' with "street" tires.
It was good enough to beat a Juiced Impala SS and a Mustang GT.
Details are here;

:eek::eek: It really hurt him that bad?
Rex what was your reaction time; You can still run good e.t.s on street times, practice and see at what R.P.M.s do you lose traction. I had to feather and leave at 2500 R.P.M.s then at about the 60ft mark give it full throttle and ran a respectable 12.29. I had to practice a lot. Have fun with it nothing like a S/C MM

Yeah, he's gonna have nasvt degree them, and then he's going for another dyno tune; if that doesn't do it, he gonna yank 'em and go back to his OEM cams.

R/T was slow: 0.509...:o
Definitely need some practice, and cooler temps would be a big help, too. I'm hoping that SSHS happens this year, think I can get the car down into the 12's with some cool air and some practice on the driver's part. ;)

Not happy about the low end performance but the cams picked up 30 ft. of torque from 4200 to 6000 rpm. Hoping to get the cams degreed soon.

Looking forward to the results. That sucks after all that labor to have it work against you.

Great job Rex!
Don't listen to the nay sayers, Barry needed; High stall convertor, Race fuel & tune, DR's and a blessing from the Pope to achieve those #'s ! :P
