View Full Version : Alignment. Sigh.

I went to a local shop to get my MM aligned because I was noticing the inner tire wear I keep reading about. I gave them Carfixer's specs, and this is what they came back with. (attached)
Looks like the only thing they did was give me more camber on the front left tire? Not helpful.
They told me, in order to get the camber (I think) adjusted more, was to drop the subframe. Is this true? (and it will cost me ~$200 more)
Should I be demanding my money back because they didn't do anything?
They also said they didn't see the tire wear I was talking about. WTF.
Anyone in the DC area have a really good alignment shop?
Thanks everyone.

Sounds like you got the shaft! if they didnt see the tire wear, i couldnt have seen paying for nothing!
Many members on this board (my self included) are running those very specs with great results!
Find a shop that knows how to do alignments

What the f?
seriously any shop worth it's salt will know what to do with carfixer specs. I got mine done at Purcellville Tire & Auto. Might be a ways out for you but....

There's a couple of metal tabs that need to be removed. Find another shop and get your $ back.
P.S. It's a good idea to read carfixers specs and writeup, understand it, print it up and take it to the shop. Ask them ahead of time: This is what I want done. It's been done many times before. Can you or can't you do this?

Just went through an alignment this morning with Carfixer's specs. Looks like the flags are still installed in your vehicle which would prevent them from setting the adjustments to the preferred specs.
Refer to this thread for Pix:

Looking at your printout, it appears by the numbers that the Toe is correct, but the adjuster indicators appear to be toed in. ??? 0.01 should be more centered. Calibration may be in order.

Thanks everyone, very helpful.
I might give this shop another chance to get it right, with this info. That or they give me my money back.
What is the point of the tags/flags anyway?

The flags are there to keep the alignment the same through the manufacturing process. They come off with a BFH.
