This week we got a pair of dead pedals from Ron (BigCars4Ever) and I wanted to post some detailed pics of the install and final product. Hopefully this will help convince anyone who is on the fence about Ron's design to ORDER ONE UP!

See Ron's original thread HERE (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27028). I got mine installed in about 30 minutes (granted I'm practiced at taking apart the trim pieces, hopefully these pics help you along the way).

Note that Ron also sends installation instructions with the dead pedal.

First steps - pull off the plastic driver's door sill cover piece and the rubber door surround:

You'll need to take the backing off the hood release here with a flathead screwdriver:

The left driver kick panel pulls straight out, you can see the plastic tabs holding it here:

Pull the carpet back from the firewall and now you can see the white plastic wire harness holder which the pedal will be mounted behind:

Note - only the top stud has a nut on it.

Next we get that white piece of plastic loose by removing the nut that holds it:

The dead pedal needs to fit BEHIND the white plastic piece, so we need to make some modifications by cutting off some of the plastic. A pair of side cutters will work, I also found a good exacto blade did the trick nicely.

Now that the trimming is complete, the bracket for the pedal fits perfectly behind the white plastic wire harness holder:

...and we slide it back onto the studs:

Put the bolt back on and tighten:

Here's how it looks before putting everything back together:

And the finished product:

With one bolt in place it's pretty solid, very little movement. Adding a second bolt might improve stability a bit, I haven't tried it yet.

Order one up from Ron and ENJOY!

I love mine as well. Before I put mine in, I had it powder coated black. In my opinion, it looks as if it was OEM.

Finally got to put pedal on today, awesome piece and great write-up here..(TIP --- Don't do this mod on one of the hottest days of the year, tight places contorting body to places it usually don't go, a bunch of extra pounds, ya, sweat out like 5 pounds today, hey, maybe that ain't a bad thing after all)......

I can't even remember a time where I didn't use this guy, the foot just naturally attaches itself to it

plus it helps keep me from sliding all over our slippery seats taking corners,
