Hey I've been waiting forever to get one of these and I just bought one last weekend! I've been testing the power "moderately" I guess you can say...but I was just wondering if it can handle power braking and hard burnouts right out of the box? Every other vehicle I've had didn't have the balls to do anything, but with this vehicle it'd be a shame to break something right off the get go. Anybody have any experiences they'd like to share with testing their MM's the first time????????

A lot is possible with any vehicle, MM being no exception.
I'm more inclined to side with slickster on this one though: why rag the **** out of a car like an MM?
Your call, but to answer your question, you could definitely do it, you just gotta learn how to (for example, I could never do it in mine when I had it, but one of my friends jumped in and did it without a problem).

Thats exactly what I was thinking... this is my dream car and I want to keep it forever, but the thing is I've got friends that doubt the potential of my car...so its tempting :) Is there a proper way of roasting if I were to try her out??

I'm not going to be around forever so after I supercharged my MM, it gets a good snot beating quite often. I didn't buy this car just to treat it like a pink flower. Whale on it:burnout:

What he said ^. I started hard with mine since the day I picked it up! 90,000 miles later and not a single hiccup! Just be prepared to replace stuffs if something goes wrong. I am never afraid of a failure, that just means build it better!

Just joking with you. Glad you like the car now go out and buy a tuner (increases timing, firms up shift points, makes the whole car seem faster) from one of our vendors here, change the rear gear to 4.10's, get the jmod done on the transmission (so it lives longer) and then hang on. I am sure your car will be able to roast the tires to your satisfaction.

As a side note, whether or not it is bad for the car or if the car can actually do it, make sure you are doing it because you enjoy it and want to, not because you have friends pressuring you into it. Situations like that have a nasty habit of landing you in a heap of trouble with the "friends" being nowhere to be found when **** goes south...

I don't understand the whole "power brake" thing. Mine smokes the hell out of the tires in 1 & 2 + 40 or so feet of rubber in 3, no brakes needed, except to get it straightened back out.

Is the car completely stock? If so, get a tune for it. The stock tune is pathetic for a performance car, specifically the trans shift schedule. It's easily the most bang for the buck mod that you can do other then a supercharger. The factory tune is made for fuel economy. It hunts for overdrive as soon as possible, usually around 30 MPH, and it locks the torque converter at very inconvenient points. There is a mild HP increase with the tune, but it's mostly about the trans shift improvements. When your driving it, you will think the car gained 30 HP. If your willing to spend a bit more, get 4.10 gears too while your at it for more off the line power.

My .02 cents.
Plugs can blow out and ruin you engine. Cost $12 (do 1st) Cylinder 7 and 8 on our engines are dead ends for coolant, when you are stopped and not a lot of air movement (say doing a brake stand) this can create a hot spot and warp the head - and or grenade head in a number of ways.
Rear head cooling Mod is $165.00 install that first so you don't grenade your engine. Lastly these MM's are known to have gotten a bad axle or two, so perhaps service the rear diff first, new synth gear oil with the FM as you should get 2 black lines from the tires.
Then you can do burnouts (with brake) but get gears or a 3500 stall converter with a tune and you will be able to burn the rears with "no brake required" :burnout:
What I'm saying is take care of it first, then beat on it! :)

I'm with you.. I found the best way to do a burn out (or a brake burn) is to take the traction control off- leave it in drive, (I've tried 1st and 2nd but drive seems to be the best) foot on the brakes- full throtle, (roll on don't stick your feet to the floor) Once she starts to spin the wheels ease off a little on the brakes while still trying to hold it back and VOILA.. an MM burn out.. Don't try to hold it back to much because you will burn out your rear brakes.. No flowers on my dash.. Like J Leno says,( I like to take a car that's a 10 and drive it till it's a 2 then build it back up to a 10 again!!) I didn't spend all this money not to have some fun with it.. If you want to spend money just to admire something.. buy some art and hang it on the wall. I haven't found a hook big enough for my Marauder... Shout out to, Clmrt, Jacket fits great!!

One of your next posts will be............ my transmission blew up, what can be wrong with it, or, I can't believe a transmission is 3k.
You may as well suggest putting it in neutral, holding the gas to the floor and dropping it into drive, that will help you find the weakest link.
Or you could just do what most of us have done........ put enough motor in the car that you don't need any brakes to do a burn out.
The bottom line, it's your car, do as you please. But, if the car doesn't spin the tires easily, that should be telling you something, i.e. don't work at it, in the grand scheme of things, it means nothing. I'd rather my car hooked as opposed to smoking the tires, just sayin'....... :burnout:

Well my friends' opinions about my car definitely don't affect my love for it... Money's tight right now because I got this car the same time as my house, and I don't want to push it past its factory limitations and completely &$#@ myself. Supercharging it isn't an option for me yet, but how much would it cost for a tuner and the 4.10 switch?? what would you recommend for a tuner also?
MrBluGruv
09-04-2012, 08:18 PM
Do the tuner first, PERIOD. I can personally recommend Lidio from Alternative Automotive. There is another free tune out there if you have an xcal3 already, but you have to contact someone (me even) in private for that.
Bottom line, re-tune is a MUST for the car if you don't have it, 4.10 gear swap is nice especially if you plan on staying N/A. My tuner packaged from Lidio ran me around $425 like 3-4 years ago.

A tuner is a must and will really wake the car up.
Mo's Speed Shop or Lidio @ Alternative Automotive (both vendors on this site) can set you up with a stock 3.55 gear tune and a 4.10 gear tune. All you need is to have the 4.10 gears installed, upload the 4.10 gear tune and good to go, it's that easy.

I remember Billy G-man and he was one crazy dude:burnout:
After they posted those burnouts someone else posted on here years ago the burnout that an IROC-Z Camaro did where the tire blew up and destroyed the dude's car! Check on You-Tube and you wont believe the damage it did. Took the guy's whole quarter panel out.
That's why I normally dont burn the tires that long. Alot of guys here can do it all frickin day but we also want to keep our cars in one piece -that's at least my reason.

I surely don't need line lock...but I have it. That just makes it even more fun. Hookin is for racing, smoke shows are for fun!
Bottom line. Treat your car as you can afford. If you don't have three grand laying around for a trans then don't do it. Pretty simple concept.
As for BillyGMan, no disrespect, but what S/C Marauder CAN'T do that??? Old news.
BTW I don't ease into nothin, ask my wife.. I'm in 2nd in under 2 seconds and in 3rd a few seconds after that. THEN I roll out. 😜

Nope, I don't have any. I have more than my share for both of us. If you don't want others opinions, 1) don't ask for it, 2) don't post on a public forum.

Let me guess. You’re a school teacher, your wife or boyfriend drives the Marauder and you drive a Prius… just saying. Now stop telling people what they should do or how they should act and we’d all be better for it. The man asked a question, I answered it. I didn’t ask for your opinion on my post. End of story. I bought my car stock. Burnouts were not easy to do, near impossible with rear seat passengers.
But now......I could smoke the tires off in an afternoon of debauchery quite effortlessly. I rarely do burnouts though. I like some tread on my BFG's.

Not really besides having a battery tender on the battery. A dead or weak battery can sometimes cause gremlins in the vehicle with the electrical system and be annoying. Not in regards to winter but just in general, if you don't know the full service history I would just have done the normal fluid/filter services, like oil, coolant exchange, trans fluid exchange, fuel filter and a brake system flush. Power steering you can really just do yourself and can be explained later on.

Nope, never been a teacher, my wife won't ride in my Marauder, she says she doesn't like the way it pushes her stomach into her throat. If you think your MM is fast, bring it on down here to Ohio for a grudge match @ the track, bring your title too, that's what we're running for.
I offered an opinion, been here for a few years and see the same thing, first it starts with "how do I do a burnout?", the it progresses into "my transmission is dead, and it's my DD, and I don't have 3k for a transmission". So, if you fall into that category that you cannot afford to fix your daily after you kill it showing off, then you are "better for" my opinion.
You really ought to not start trying to insult members, it gets threads locked and makes you look bad.

Battery tender, make sure to disconnect it before starting the car. Assuming your parking it in a garage, start the car periodically and get it to operating temperature (if in a garage, open the door).
Before you get it out in the spring, a fresh oil change is a must. I change mine before storage, and in the spring.
Give the car a good "once over" before driving, making sure there are no leaks, and all fluid levels and tires pressures are to spec.
