Well I want to get headers but it looks like a hell of a job. My plan is to blow my bottom end and put headers in with the new long block.
Now I like the sound of my stock exhaust but if i keep it, I will loose power! Has anyone put Headers and right after the headers put cut outs then the stock exhaust
I really dont want a loud exhaust. Not to mention cops will hear the car from a mile away with exhaust! With cut outs they will be dumb founded and not suspect me.
Yes I am weird but just looking for input and my game plan.
Who makes good headers anyways?

But no, my exhaust is nowhere near stock, matter of fact you won't find it on any other Marauder LOL

You need back pressure for the engine to yield max HP, cut-outs will sound cool, but they may actually lose power because they flow TOO good. You can modify the stock exhaust to improve flow, but still maintain the necessary back pressure.

That was always my thought as well Rex. But when she was on the dyno last she picked up 12 rwhp and 13 rwtq! Seems slower, but he said its just because of the sound given off and my teeth rattling LOL! Keep in mind I was only testing the AFR that day and she has yet to be dynoed for the exhaust. 😃 I just just wanting a DETUNE if necessary! Still good at 11.7 at 466 up to 6500.

Interesting! Stuff I'd heard previously was about the same numbers, but going in the opposite direction.
I think cut-outs are cool, love the sound of them (for a short while) at WOT...

Do you have pics on how you did the exhaust? unless its top secret I will understand
but SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!
I was thinking about the back pressure but hopefully the bend in the headers would be enough
my other concern would be a tune closed vs open as SC cheaseehead says "flows to good" then to not as well
Hummmm
BTW this forum is great!

If your worried about AFR's I was told by Tim Barth @ Norm's garage that it wouldn't affect it any. Deans performance confirmed that on the rollers.
If you want my opinion, I think they sound like crap when not idling or upper RPM's WOT. Anything else : 💩
I plan to bolt a couple tiny race mufflers to them in the near future to give it some kind of pitch that doesn't sound like a demolition derby car. First up is a tubular cross member to accommodate them.

You could probably put some resonators on those cut outs to give better sound in the lower rpm range.

Both Stainless Works and Kooks make a very high quality headers and exhaust for these cars. I've seen the SW, and I own the Kooks. Don't blow the bottom end, the job isn't that bad, and there are threads here to help. Where in Mass are you? May be able to help you with a hook up.

I did the SW Headers to cut-outs then into Jegs high performance cats which bolt directly to the rest of the stock exhaust. I like to keep my car semi quiet until I throw the cut out switch and open them up. I kept the 2 high flow cats for emissions testing but Justbob got away without having them. My system bolts up to the stock exhaust right before the h-pipe.
If you have a blown motor or a stroker the cut-outs will gain you some HP (I gained like 30 HP) but it is probably minimal. I had my car tuned with the cut-outs opened as that is the way I would race someone. Good luck.
