The DTR jokes are old, and the one thing that gets under my skin is trashing a for sale thread.

Keep the BS in check.

This DTR is clean as hell, and hope the OP gets every penny of what he wants for it.

Hey I understand bro!

There's so much money tied up in mine I lost count!

But the reality is if I were to put mine up for sale I wouldn't get back all I put into it.

That's just the way it is.

Some people with S/C cars and low miles post up asking for 30K and get crucified for it!

At the end of the day it's your car and you can set whatever price you want for it!

Now whether you get it or not is a different story.

Like I said before. Good luck with the sale.

Guys...There is no way to establish a value for this car....An 11k DTR Trilogy with all those goodies is a One of a kind for our breed of steed......

My advice? "Ask for what you really want"..... You have a 2 year window as you stated.......Put it out there and see if someone steps up... I bet someone will if you market it well.......

Its an M5 beater, and AMG beater, a CTSV beater. With more space than any of them, more reliable and cheaper to maintain......

If you want a quick sale, then sure, price it that way. If you want what you want, then it will come down to the condition of the car as rare as this, the set up that wets the appetite and lastly..... Patience......

Good luck! You have a beautiful ride...You should get what you want for it:beer::burnout:

I'd say a solid 20-25k, 30k is not out of the realm of possibility, it will just take the right buyer, by that, I mean a buyer who wants a turn key car that will out perform the so called "fast, luxury" offerings that are on the road.

Stick to your guns, you'll get the money.

There are 2 totally built 10 second MM, both done right and they are asking $30K with neither one selling.

In todays economic environment I think you would be lucky to get $20K.

The best way is to put it up for sale for the price you want and see what happens.

Some rich eccentric may really like red.;)

Keep the BS in check.

This DTR is clean as hell, and hope the OP gets every penny of what he wants for it.

Mike.

To the OP

You have a great car in great condition, 1st rule of sales: it is easier to lower a price than to up it, ask what you want

Pros
Well maintained car
well desired mods
to some of us (me included) a great color
low mileage deserves a premium

Cons
some folks will prefer a stock car
just low enough mileage that driving around the block will lower its value

These cars aren't really collector cars and may never be. As others said just because a lot of money was put into it doesn't mean you will get it back. I'm sure you know that. Rarely does any one get back what they put in their cars. Do a search and see what cars have been selling for. I agree with others you could get 20k probably easily, time is on your side (for now, as stated in one of your posts) so ask more. The economy and "collectabilty" isn't

Is an MM an M5, AMG or CTSV beater? I wouldn't trade my car for any of those but those cars are in another class - refinement, stock speed, handling etc.

To Mike
I wasn't even going to respond but after sleeping on it your response is the exact reason why I stayed away from this site for so long, did I joke, yes, was I trashing his car or the thread NO. In the end it seems as if he knows what he wants for the car anyway.

They are in another class price wise for sure, but as far as out on the road? You would be surprised how much respect I get when running with these cars.....A car like the one for sale here will do everything those vehicles do, and with those mods in the hands of a capable driver, do it very well.

I don't have as many mods, but I have run with plenty of M5's & AMG's .... The car gets plenty of respect. :burnout:Have only come accross 1 CTSV, but it was not the "right" time........

This is a car for someone who wants something different/quasi exclusive, but does not want to shell out $80k for the privilege... He is looking for ideas....... Market the car effectively and you will find that person... They are out there.....

Are you seriously asking this question?

Not just no but HELL no.
No comparison at all. My M5 at 150 is quieter and smoother than the Marauder at 75. It gets there effortlessly with minimal intrusion and practically dares you to grow a pair and set the cruise.
Everything it does it does SO much better than the Marauder it's not even funny.
The Marauder is good for getting in and being loud/raucous then putting it back away for the next time I feel like being a 16 year old.

At 30K this guy is competing with ultra low mileage E39 M5's and E55 AMG's. Gonna be a tough market especially considering he is going to have to find a cash buyer.
I'd like to see him get it as it'll make it that much easier to justify trying to sell mine for 18-19 next spring but I don't see it happening. Mid-low 20's are more realistic.

Are you seriously asking this question?

No, I'm not! someone else brought that up, its a Marauder Forum so I respect that but I have also driven and raced the other cars on a track - I know there is no comparison. Doesn't mean I can't or don't like one over the other.

GAMike

So guys, I don't want to derail this gentlemen's thread because of comments that I have made....... All I was saying is that you would be spending less money for equal/close performance if you were to purchase a Marauder equipped the way his is........

I just want to see a vehicle of this quality go for all it can, and was making suggestions how to position its attributes. We ea. have a frame of reference to justify our POV's. Thats what makes cars fun. My opinion is just that an opinion... Its no worse or better than anyone elses.... I have driven many high dollar exotics & performance sedans as well and at speed..... In my opinion a low milage Marauder built like this is a better value than an 80-100k mi. MSeries or AMG (because thats what would be out there if you compare 03-4's The ones with lower miles, still go for a $$$$).... If you went newer M's & AMG's prices of these vehicles make this Marauder even more compelling.

Again sorry for the derail.... I like you all, was trying to offer a strategy so that the car sells for the top dollar it obviously deserves.

Spectragod
09-08-2012, 05:04 AM
:soap:Why is it that people always derail a F.S. post? This is a Marauder board, the car that will potentially be for sale is a Marauder. What ever someone else owns means squat as to the sale of this car. If you like your "other" ride, great, STFU about it in someone else's thread. He wanted to know what it was worth, not what you thought about your own car.

Off my soap box, and a bump for a beautiful Marauder.

Goes without saying that this DTR is great! The OP knows what he thinks the car should sell for. (Not sure why he aked for help with price.) Everyone is going to have an opinion and few will confirm what he already thinks. Our Marauders are a niche car. They have not reached collector status (except for those of us who own and love them and can't find OEM parts anymore.;)) I'd say it's more of a cult car at this point. Ask anything you want for it and I hope you get it. Mine is priceless.

No moonroof

Not a bad thing.

Y'know - as much as I love moonroofs ...

I've always been rather vocal on how they were never really done right on these cars.

While I still held out for & sought out one with the MR vs without when I bought mine .....

My OCD for small details seems to be getting worse as I age & I think I'd actually prefer to have one without the MR at this point.

Again great looking car w/one of the best mods there is.

I'll certainly be sure to save this thread.

And if anyone wants to pray for me that I come into a lot of money .....

Marty told me not to sell my DTR.
MMBlue if I give it away you can have it. I have to many now.
I think the price is worth talking to him about.

Thanks Shaijack... I have talked with Randy extensively about his car. This car is flawless. He and I were going to try to work a deal at one time but, couldn't meet in the middle with an agreement. If I had a few extra buckaroos, this is one car that is hard to pass up. It has every single thing that is desirable in a MM.

You will want to keep your car. Trust me.

C'mon Marty......Where's the love for me.... Barry and I are good ya know :coolman: I can baby sit it for him. Especially when he and the grand kids come to the Orlando area.

You optioned your car the way I would have - love those valve/cam covers! Hold out for what you want - I would pay your asking price when I’m able.

Well stated. I will pay the seller the price asked as it's an excellent optioned and maintained Marauder. Hoping to contact the op ASAP.
