Upgrading from my AVIC-D2 to an AVIC-X940BT... Thanks Pop!
Where to mount the GPS antenna?
Exterior is out of the question.
Old GPS antenna is mount next to the CHMSL.
Will be offering the AVIC-D2 and an AVIC-F700BT for sale soon.

I removed the plastic defroster opening grille. The structure below is like a sandwich, it has an uper and a lower part. On the left side is a hole where these red flashing alarm light sit. On the right side is a similar hole but empty. I lowered the sensor in it and shoved it a bit to the front between the upper and lower "sandwich" part. Sorry, i forgot to make a picture of it. :depress:
It's also possible to remove the right A-pillar plastic panel and put the sensor vertically on the metal. The magnetic bottom of the sensor will hold it there. But i didn't made a ride with the sensor there, i don't know if it has any effect on the GPS signal strength.

Let me know how you like the X940BT unit. I was looking at a X930BT unit and there was only a $50 difference between the two.

Why is exterior out of the question? Mine along with the XM ant are mounted right behind the grill in the header. The pockets there are just made for it, it's plastic so no interference and when the trim panel on the core support is in place you do not even know they are there.
