Hello everyone. I need some help with an exhaust upgrade. I am buying my 1st Marauder tomorrow and want to add a nice sound. Honestly, I am unfamiliar with the terminology when it comes to headers, cats, etc.....and what each one does. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The cheap way out is remove rear cats and magnaflow Mufflers or for something louder step up to flowmaster super 44 if you want the loudest muffler aero turbines. And for sure place your order for the megs tips in the exhaust section then you can sell your old tips for $100 if there in ok shape

If you just want sound change the mufflers, for better performance install our Stainless Works (http://www.stainlessworks.net) full exhaust.

Video below will give you a good look at the components....

Are you upgrading for sound or performance?

If the latter, save your money and go with a performance tune first. Both Lidio and Mo's Speed Shop can give you a great tune that will reall wake up the car.

Exhaust mods, in the form of headers and a high flow system will help, but you'll need to re-tune the car anyway after they're installed, so you may as well start with buying a tuner and getting a good canned tune installed on it.

That's what I'm saying, Doomie, does he want noise or power?

If it's power he's after, IMO, exhaust mods should be further on down the road. Definitely can see some improvements, but more bang for the buck elsewhere.

True! but if he's got a bone stock car, the first order of business should be a Lidio or Mo's tune.

Thanks for all the info...sorry I have been out of pocket for a minute (enjoying the new ride!). I am looking for both...want something a little louder than stock but nothing thats too loud. I also want better performance as well. Is it possible to get all this done for under 1500?

What is a Lidio or MO's tune?

What is a Lidio or MO's tune?

Its a sct x3 programer with Lidio or MO custom tune loaded into it, these tunes will make your car run the way it should run.

you plug into your obd11 connecter and load tune

Also if your on a 1500 budget that is only enough to get you hooked than you will want to spend more, Have fun

important things you can do
TUNE
CAI whichever one you like k&n and the JLT are popular
FRP 4.10 gears gets the sled going ALT some use 4.30
EXHAUST YOU DONT HAVE A BUDGET FOR HEADERS AND FULL EXHAUST
but for now look at the group buy for the 4in resonator delete tips a good sounding muffler like flowmaster or magnaflows there are others your choice,
and cut out your rear cats

Beat me to it.

Take some time and listen to the 'Tube". If you have good computer speakers you should be able to get a good general idea what you might end up with.

I'm still looking for the sound I like and haven't found it yet, at least on a Marauder.:)

Should I get the Lidio tune first or make my header/ muffler / cats mods first.....didnt know if one would affect the other. Also...how hard is it to tune them if I have it shipped, Im not an engine person....is it easy even if you dont really know much about cars?

Headers then tune off the dyno. The computer adjust to exhaust and intake.

What are you considering? If you're going with a canned tune from either Lidio or Mo's they can mail you the tuner with the tuner loaded, and you can upload into your car at home or wherever.

If you're getting headers installed, you're prolly going to want a dyno tune to maximize the potential, and make sure the A/F is adjusted to reflect the improved exhaust flow (i.e. car will be running leaner without adjustements).

Where do you live in Indiana? Can't be much more than a 4 hour drive unless youre in the far southern tip.

Im in Pendleton and yes it is only about 5 hours but it is hard for me to find the time. Considering Lidio tune, 4.1, and flowmaster......will that gimme some sound and performance at a reasonable price?

For sure! The gears and tune will wake the car up, and the Flowmasters will give you more sound, especially if you do rear cat delete.

If you get the mailed tune...it is very simple...you plug it into your OBDII port and follow the instructions on the hand held tuner....takes about 5 minutes.

Check around, any reputable speed shop that works on Mustangs (8.8" Ford rear ends) should be able to do the job for you.

2 questions:
1) do the meg tips require welding?
2) went to the shop today and they said I can get $50k fine for taking out the cats....any truth to that?

I have the complete Stainless Works system on my car. After getting a full Dyno tune (you'll need it), the car became a fire breathing monster. Torque jumped by over 30 ft-lbs. and the HP was improved by 15 ponies. The sound reminds me of the 2003 SVT Cobra.

4.10 gears - done
Lidio Tune - done
Email sent for 4" tips - done

If I purchase flowmaster super 40's and add the 4" Megs res delete tips I should be good. Are there any other parts I will need to add the tips or exhaust?
