driving into work the other night and cruisin at 120 klm= 70 mph, for you americians.....lol
and felt the car stummble a bit...?
i drove her to work as I was already 20k from home.
limped her home in the morning and began to check her out......
pulled all the plugs and # 6 was wet....so I ohm the coil out and it checked out?
replace the plug and and fired her up, misfire still there?
do a compression test on all cylinders and # 6 is ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F_CK.....
further investigation....pulled the valve cover and # 6 intake valve spring broken?
YUP intake valve spring broken....never had I ever seen a Mod motor break a valve spring.......
called Lidio as the cams and valve spring were intalled by him and he too has never heard or seen them break.....
Lucky for me the valve didnt drop......or it would have been alot worse.
everything moves up and down freely and it appears that the valve is true
Lidio did his part and is sending me two new valve springs for the intake side, Im gonna change them out on the car and go from there.

I think im the first to run into this senario as I have never heard MM breaking valve spring before........just my luck EH.........

You dodged a big bullet there my friend! I would take a valve spring any day considering the consequence of dropping a valve. Good Luck on getting her back together and on the road.

What cams are you running and is it time for a spring upgrade before it dose fail you?

I have Crower stage 2's for my other engine. Even though it shouldn't need upgraded springs, I will more than likely get ahold of some for this very reason.

Whatever Crower has to offer? Honestly I have been too busy to even start looking. I just jumped on the cams two weeks ago because they were 1,800 miles old and half price.

I still need adjustable gears and a degreeing wheel as well as a few more odds and ends. I will say this, the shed is getting quite full, at some point I need to get my butt in gear!

Comparing stock problems = nil to minimal for the amount of heads produced to ANY outside vendor other than factory putting together heads on a percentage basis. Keyword any. This is not a turf war of who is better and who is not. I don't have any favorites :coolman:

Crower stage 2 cams, with a new set of valve springs, that were installed in may of this year, also did a valve job...the heads were sent out to a local machine shop to do everything including the installed height for the valve springs.
So Im hoping thats all it is a bad valve spring.........

Maybe I will order some Comps now! 😏

You would think at the price of aftermarket "upgrades" you would get a product that lasted more than four months...

I had the same problem on my 5.7 Durango starting in April. It was a beeyatch to diagnose because, believe it or not, the problem was intermittent. It would miss for a while, and then run completely smooth for days.
