So my headers have a 3" collector. This leads to the 2" pipes at the flange and then the H pipe, which leads to my 2 1/2" Magnaflows and 2 1/2" tail pipes. Pretty goofy, I would say, and I'm getting some reverberation that I don't care for. (Could be the fact that I'm not running cats, but I don't think so). I want to be rid of the 2" pipes. I'm wondering if my only choice is to have a custom made exhaust to connect the headers to the Magnaflows? Should I go with 2 1/2" to the muffs, or 3"? Should I have them make me a 2 1/2 or 3" H pipe, or is there an X pipe in 2 1/2 or 3" I can get?
Any help is appreciated.

Since your running Stainless Works headers, you can simply add our exhaust, you will need to remove the factory connect pieces a the end of the headers. This way you will get the 3" X-Pipe for better performance.

It looks like you are here in Illinois there are some good performance exhaust shops in the Chicago suburbs. Sasser Custom Exhaust in Joliet, Twisted Pipes in Ringwood, and D&A Old School Automotive in Naperville. These shops have web sites so you can contact them if you don't want to buy a complete system.

Custom is nice, but pricey. I had custom 2.25" mandrel bent & stainless mid pipes made around a Magnaflow muffled X pipe muffler. So I go from 3" to 2.25 and it stays that way all the way out the tips.

Paul, you think I have not been drooling over that? lol If you would like to donate it to me, that would be great!
Remember I contacted you about the cats? I can't decide whether the slightly raspy sound on decel is from not having cats or the squeezing of the air at the 2" section. Maybe you know.....

How long is the case on your Magnaflows and how miles are on them? They have packing material in them, therefor they get louder over time. Mine are 18" and have zero rasp.
Also, if you didn't reinstall the factory vibration dampeners then you will always feel a difference from what it used to be, not to mention a complete change in harmonics.
Build your own exhaust ya weenie.

18" Mags.
Not old. Sounded great before. Still do, except for some raspieness.
I don't remember any vibration dampers on the system. Eric?
Yes, I am a weenie.

I went ahead and ordered up the high flow cats from Paul at SW. If for nothing else because the exhaust STINKS with no cats. Only good thing is that people are keeping their distance......
I'll have to save up for a full system someday.

If you had gotten MAUCAT, headers, 3" cats with lead pipes - it just bolts on to the factory setup.

I got the SW high flow cats and I must say the exhaust is now perfect. No raspieness, no rattle, and sounds freakin' awesome! Stinky exhaust of course is gone too. A little down on power but not too noticable. Thanks to Paul at Stainless Works for a deal since I bought their headers.:burnout:
