I found the Ka-Thunk that was coming from under the rear of the MM.

My control arms were shot, bushings worn completely thru, metal on metal:bigcry:

For those, like me, who have never experience what a bad control arm feels and sounds like, it's a definite taking up of slack, like train cars, when you take off or brake and a definite sound, Ka-Thunk.:thinker:

Sent Sparta Performance a PM, I think he has a set in stock.

Regards,

Pat

Here are the pics of the upper control arms that were causing my ka-thunk.

The new control arms from Sparta are on and work great, Ride is so much better.

Interesting...I have a little k-thunk when giving it gas and have been wondering...any way to check them otherwise, or do they need to be removed?

Taking the rear wheels off gives you a good visual.

Wow how many miles did you have on the rear control arms? To bad we couldn't just order the bushings.

The control arms started misbehaving somewhere around 85-90K. It was not very noticeable at first but kept getting worse until I had to do something. Until today I thought it was the tranny, then the tune, then the drive shaft, then the rear end. Checking out each one of these things wasn't expensive but I never thought of the control arms until they literally came apart (bushings).
The car has 110K.

Aha, you know. Yes it does, feels a little "higher" and more solid.

I have to check mine out...that would actually be a great reason for an upgrade!! I get the sound when going over bumps in the road or coming out of a driveway.

:banana2:Pat... This is a great post for all 2nd/3rd/and now 4th generation Marauder owners on what to look for preventive maint. wise on their vehicles (or one they are thinking of purchasing).

Bushings are wearable items after all. Glad to see you got taken it taken care of..... :burnout:

I get the sound when going over bumps in the road or coming out of a driveway. Also check the front sway bar bushings. I had a bad one on my DD that made an inconsistent clunk that was hard to trace, and they didn't look or feel bad, but when replaced the clunk was gone.

I currently expereincing the same issue. I have the Zack&Mac arms. Currently looking for replacement bushings. From what i'm finding out there, either way is going to be and expensive endeavor since there doesn't seem to be a kit persay.

+1 on this^^^

After replacing everything else in the front end the bushings on the bar turned out to be the "clunk".

At least the car tracks tight and straight like new!
