I wanted to post this cause I could not find it doing a search. While at MV10 hangin out and grabbin some grub with my wife and Gigan (Joel) I was bitchin about the fact that my MM does not have the (speed compensating volume) feature...he leans forward and says sure it does. Its HIDDEN....
You turn on the radio, then push the power/volume button in and hold it, after a few seconds the display will read something about the volume and show numbers 0-7, while holding the power/volume button down, you use the select button to adjust your speed compensating volume....
I love it! Thanks to Joel for showing this to me...I asked my buddy that works for a Lincoln Mercury dealer if he knew about this and he said no. We did try it out on my mother in laws Grand Marquis and it works on it as well.

You dont have to keep holding the power button down. Just hold it to get it into the speed menu, then use select to change the setting.

Here are a thread going back to 2006>>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27697
It's not in the manual.
When the radio is on hold down the on/off button for about 5-6 seconds the display will show speed volume followed by a number that you can change between 1 and 7 with the select control. The greater the number the more of a change in volume between slow and fast.
Here's another one from 2010 >>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=67819

Link ^^^^ now shows nothing. It came back with 5-6 threads for speed volume. I update the link with Smokie's post from 2006.
Under the Search Tab, click on Advanced Search. Search on thread titles only with "Volume" in it. Brings back several posts from years ago.

If your listening to the right kind of music why would you want to lower the volume? There is a secret steering application though. If you play Disco, which by the way SUCKS, the car will look for an appropriate tree to crash into. Another good reason to always wear your seatbelt.:D

What?! Disco sucks?
Back in the '80s, disco did in fact suck, but compared to today's whiny, angst-ridden crap, disco is actually soothing.

If your listening to the right kind of music, such as DISCO, why would you want to lower the volume? If you play Disco, you may get so distracted by the snappy tunes that you crash into a tree. Another good reason to always wear your seatbelt.:D

Disco is awesome. Just like 80's rock, pop, metal, and hair bands.
That's all.

I enjoy Classic Rock as well. The music pretty well died at the end of the 80's IMO

Well at least the OP can enjoy the "Speed Volume" until the FM craps out, and the deck has to be replaced anyway! ;)

I didn't know until a few days ago about the "compression adjust" feature for cd's. Wow, does it ever sound better when it is on!

"Speed Volume"; "Compression Adjust"; "Speaker Configuration"; etc.; all functions that are also on the Escape Deck Replacement - but the FM won't go on ya! (Sounds way better too!)
