Here's a question that I should have asked Dennis when I had him on the phone. I ordered the stage one kit (stat, plugs, chip and 4:10's). It may be a while untill I can get the gears in and was thinking I could put the other stuff in for now. Then I thought, will the gears change my speedo reading. If they do, I'm sure the chip is already calibrated for the 4:10's and if I put it in without the gears my speedo will be off. So the question of the day is: Will the gears change my speedo reading?

Yes, changing gears will affect speedo.

Hey Mifuni. I'm eager to find out how to fix the speedo issue. My thought is like yours, the chip has to be programmed to accomodate the changes. Any thoughts?

Noticed you are from my area. Good to know there are two of us at least! :baaa:

Do it all at once...any other way will not get you the "full effect" and you lose the piece of mind that something still needs to be taken care of to get it right. AND, you'll probably (should) save $s just having them do everything at once.

Mifuni and maraudergirl:

If you install a chip that has been calibrated for 4.10s, your speedo will read approx 15% low until you install the gears. Conversely, installing the gears without having the chip recalibrated will cause your speedo to read 15% high.

OK, so it's safe to assume that because I bought this as a package, Dennis calibrated the chip for the 4:10's.
