Hey guys, put an Eaton limited slip dif in my mm. Ive had to have the rear end re done twice in a month due to poor setup. I finally paid the shop I work for to fix it yesterday and now have a ratcheting noise that I can hear and feel. Im wondering if they didn't put the friction modifier in it and that is whats causing it. Any thoughts?

Its hard to say if youve had two failed setups the eaton could be toast, i would add some friction modifier and see if the problem persist

Well ive only had one with the Eaton. When I got the car the gears were howling so I had it rebuilt with the Eaton, New gear and bearing. Well the guy that did it set it up at .02 backlash and after 3000 miles they started to howl again. So i had the back lash reset. They changed the oil and put valvoline75w140 in it. Im just not sure if he added friction modifier ill try it because the dif didn't do this before the oil was changed yesterday

They changed the oil and put valvoline75w140 in it. Im just not sure if he added friction modifierThat lube already has the friction modifier built in, so it sounds like you have other issues.

ok, so i checked with the guys this morning and they put the lucas 75-140 in it not the valvoline. so were thinking it needs the friction modifier put in it. im gonna try that tonight or tomorrow night and see what that gets me.

Not everyone can setup a pinion gear depth right. Get it back to the shop that installed it.
