View Full Version : Motor still bogging down in 2nd?

So, I purchased the car about....6 months ago? I immediately noticed that it had a random misfire throughout acceleration, mainly in 2nd. I replaced the plugs and coils (needed to be done anyway), and it was phenomenally better.

However, I'm still getting a slight bog in 2nd under heavy load. If I'm driving normally, no issues whatsoever. But, when I pin the throttle (trying to show off), around the mid point of the tachometer, the motor bogs down a bit before unleashing the full power. And it ONLY seems to happen in 2nd gear.

Anyone have similar issues? Any ideas on what may need to be replaced? I work at a shop, and there are no codes coming up, and nothing on the scan tool that would indicate a problem (had my master tech ride with me and watch the scanner for irregularities), so I'm at a dead end.

I'd love to get this baby running just right, so I can really enjoy her. Any help would be appreciated!:help:

Also, I have replaced the fuel filter already, and I have no catalytic converters.

Stock tune, is it still in there? I'm thinking shift points? You list mods but no tune.

Noticed this too ^^^. Is it a bog or does it feel like when the car hits the rpm sweet spot and starts to zoom the feeling is so different it feels like the car must have been bogging? I'd try a tune.

Stock tune has the converter lockup in 2nd gear, That's the bog you feel. I had it tuned out and my converter locks up like a 5th gear at around 57mph.

Bought the car used, so not sure if she was tuned before or not. May have to look into that.
