So I went for my morning jog and when I return to the car I didn't notice anything wrong. I drove through some hilly roads while coming back down hill I noticed the ride getting bumpier along with weird noises occurring . Went I got home the rear end was the highest Ive ever seen. I went under the axle and notice the sensor lever disconnected from the axle ... Thinking this caused the issue I connected it back and cycle the key with no succes .. Inputs would be appreciated

Go out and start the car again then turn it off.

Yeah...you might need to start the car.

I've started the car several times I guess I'll drive around the block to see if it will bring the rear end down

Ok I started the car and drove it around the block it went back to normal ride height . I wonder what caused the sensor to pop out the axle

Did you check it before reinstalling it?

I wonder what caused the sensor to pop out the axleIt doesn't take a lot to pop the linkage. Phoebe did that twice and it was because the sensor was bound up and stiff...it should actuate smoothly and easily. New sensor and all was well.

Ah huh-huh...I said stiff...

Here is an excerpt from an article on www.lincolnsonline.com called "Town Car Air Suspension Diagnosis":

"When the car is started the air suspension module will immediately raise the vehicle to trim height if needed. No venting is allowed for 45 seconds after starting, so if the vehicle is high it will remain high for at least 45 seconds. Venting is also not allowed when a door is open."

Here (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00061.html) is the link.

I sprayed the connection points of the height sensor with some lube, I think they rust and get stuck, then when you hit a bump they pop off. If it keeps happening a new height sensor is in your future.
