View Full Version : List of what a stock Marauder can beat?

Just picked up a very clean 03 Marauder with 66k miles for $8,000. It was a replacement for my old Intrepid that was stolen. I'm very excited to be in one of my dream cars at only 19!!!
But to the point. I was wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head what a stock MM can beat. I'd like to do some little race and immediately retire undefeated afterwards. I care too much about the car to risk anything happening to it, so I'll grant myself one time of having a little fun with it!

When stock, I remember beating the supercharged cobalt SSs, and acura tl type s. Get a tune and intake and you can achieve that easier.

Look for a Town Car, a CV Sport...Watch out for V6 Accords and Fleetwoods.
I've noticed I start off in 2nd a lot, maybe 60% of the time. I *****foot through 5 miles of 25-40 mph and even after a complete stop, it's already in 2. So if I get in a spot for a good launch against someone, I make sure to pop it into first, go and quick slap it into second. Unless you like to bounce off the rev limiter. Do you get a good sharp 1-2 chirp at WOT? Even losing, you do get .3 street cred for a chirp.

Did that to a Vette in my '78 Fiesta. Was awesome for the passenger in my car - no idea what was happening.

A stock Marauder can beat a DTR. Even when not running.
Congratulations on your ride. Be carefully about how you treat your mighty Merc as some parts are damn near impossible to find due to Ford not manufacturing them any more and part sources are dried up of some items forever.

I beat a Smart Car once. You guys are right just enjoy the ride. My DTR lost to my riding lawn mower. It was not fair the lown mower had a 2 second head start.

Absolutely, There are less and less of these cars and even less available parts.
Let's face it, a new Camry will give you a run for the money these days.
Do a few mods, or don't do mods, take it to the drag strip, run it all night.
Don't go to jail, or take a chance of hurting someone or your MM.

^^^^^ What he said.
Actually, in bone stock condition, the Marauder is a bit of a slug, but with a few mods (performance tune and 4.10 gears), you'll see a noticeable difference, may wish to consider going that route.
Oh, and BTW, :welcome1:

Ive got to Disagree with you Bud! N2O (giggle gas) on a stock motor isnt going to last very long!
These motors have enuff issues with 7&8 cylinders/pistons N/A

:banana2:Welcome to the madness!!.......Like everyone said, Great deal on a low mileage Marauder! I bought mine three years ago and got a great deal. I've have not raced it, although I get a lot of cars pimping me to race at stoplights.
But if your going to race once, do it on a track. IIRC..There's a few things you do....Turn off the O/D, turn off the traction control, drive around the burnout box..and a few other launch procedures that the Racers on the site can tell you about to fill in the details.
Post up some details and pictures..and enjoy...:D

If you got that car for $8,000 under 100k, you should beat anyone cause you have some serious luck on your side my friend. GREAT FIND!!

Keep the mufflers stock. Only lightly tint the windows. Maybe let it get a little dirty. Keep your foot off the gas untli the light changes.
And you can beat anyone you want.

66k for $8,000? Salvage title? Family hook up? Either way, a stock Marauder isn't a race car, but at least it'll be safe when your 19 year old street racing self wrecks it!

No you didnt walk him, he wasnt competing with you, or you got sandbagged son!
The first rule of street racing "the competitor always wins by a big margin until theres MONEY on the table"
Always remeber that bud!;)
