View Full Version : Rattle behind dash
Yesterday, for no apparent reason, a distinct rattle reared it's ugly head behind the center portion of the dash. It's a plastic sound as opposed to a metallic sound. Everything seems to work. Blend door?

No. Not the blend door.
Center gauge pod?
Radio?
Somnething loose in the glove box?
What work has been done to the car recently?
No work done in that area for years. Rattle seems high up behind the dash, gage pod tight, emptied glove box and checked behind it.
I'll pull the radio tomorrow and see. couldn't see or feel anything loose under the steering column or under the glove box. nothing loose in engine bay next to the firewall. All the vent air directors work OK and are not loose.
The rattle is loud enough to hear over the radio at normal volumn.

Pat it could be the silver dollars you throw into the air vents.

My exhaust rattles the center console (even worse when I have change in the cup holders), rearview mirror and FL door panel. lol

BINGO, You nailed it MJ. Took the MM to my trusty windshield repair shop and they reglued the mounting bracket. It had somehow separated and the mirror mounting was just bouncing off the windshield.
All fixed, no charge. Beer's on me at Louisville.
Thanks,
Pat
