At 96K miles it is getting to be time to replace some parts. Probably quite a few.
I think my shock/strut choices are pretty limited. I am leaning towards Naake. Anybody care to share experiences on these?
Also might be appropriate to replace the front control arms and tie rods. Do the upgraded (Addco?) sway bars still use the nice ball-jointed end links in the front?
What about rear control arms and Watts links? My choices here are Metco and somebody else whose name escapes me. What about the difference in bushings? I have always avoided polyurethane for the squeak. I think the other-than-metco offer a true Delrin bearing, which is appealing.

Im going to try the rear shocks, dont care for the front setup, i have the Metco control arms and Watts link no sqeaks, plus they have grease (zerk fittings) tha addco bars are sweet, get some moog end links and you will love it!

I had no luck w/Naake for the front or rear in my daily driver - front springs supplied w/kit are NFG and all shocks developed leaks after less than 12 months/12K miles on the road. No offer from Naake to supply front springs that could work and would only rebuild the shocks at my cost. Never again!

I had Naake coil-overs in the front, I think they spec'ed out too weak of a spring rate for the MMs and every 6 months I was adjusting them until they wore out. I eventually put back the original setup with 1 coil cut off the original springs, car handles just as well, rides more comfortable and the stance looks great.

I was afraid of that. I had not heard good things about longevity of the Naake products.
Anybody know if the Ford shocks and struts are still OEM'd by Tokico?

I have Naake double adjustable struts up front and double adjustable shocks in the rear. They came with my DBP. I finally have them adjusted right, but wouldn't spend the money on them. I loved the Eibach springs on my first MM and regret not taking them off before I sold it, they are awesome if used with KYB struts.

I have some front struts you can have for $50.00 plus s/h. I had them on my 2004 for two weeks. Didn't like oem after the Naake set up. If you want them drop me a pm.

Unless they are OEM'd by a reputable mfg, I guess that is the end of the thought of using Ford struts.

How long have you had the Naake? Double or single adjust, front and rear both? Any oil leaks?

I did not know KYB made struts for our cars. My past experiences with KYB have not been good, but I guess I have to consider all of the few options available.

You could buy KYBs at rockauto.com. The hard part will be finding the Eibachs, you could always get Eaton springs too, they offer 1" and 1 1/2" drop springs. I believe 05crownsport has them. So does offroadcarter, but hes no longer with us :(

What is the appeal of the Eibachs vs the stocks springs? I have never thought the stockers were too soft. I'm not sure I want to lower the car.

I have a set of Naake double adjustables, had them for about 2 years and no leaks. Of course they are still in the boxes, I haven't had time to install them, and probably should just sell them at this point.:shake:

Eibachs make your car sit perfect.

If anybody has one old front and one rear shock I would like to buy them so I may show the racing shock mfg what to build, without downing my car. Hopefully for a reasonable price . . .

Thanks to 03mmmonroe one each front/rear stock shocks are headed to a noted suspension shop. They will build front coilovers and rear shocks using Penske dampers - supposedly one of the best in the business. I have not yet decided on single or double adjustable.
I'll keep you all updated how it turns out. I will rebuild the front end and change to Addco tubular sway bars at the same time, as well as install the front Wilwood brakes to match the rear.
Should drive like a whole new car. :)

Sounds like a mean setup, looking forward to seeing how this turns out:cool4:

Hurricane Sandy has had an impact on shock build schedule, but it appears the shop survived and will still do the work.
