View Full Version : How much water can be in there?

This past weekend I had the opportunity to follow two different MMs around the State and was amazed at the amount of water pouring out of the exhaust tips. Even after a spirited run of over an hour water just poured out of the tips. How long does it take to evaporate the condensate that forms over nite? Seems to me the mufflers would dry out pretty quick but apparently there is more to the story. Anyone else notice water pouring out of another's MM after long periods of driving?

Story goes that there is about a gallon of water produced from a gallon of gas burned so it continues to be produced and runs out as liquid until the exhaust system gets hot enough to vaporize it all the way back.....unlikely in cooler weather!!:shake:
Weep holes in the mufflers help expel it....may be plugged up??

The first time I noticed this was at the first Gettysburg weekend (October 2008) when following DOOM in the morning. Same thing ... very cool temps and about 1 liter of water poured out of each tip enroute to one of the venues. I was quite surprised at the amount of water as well.

H2O and CO2 are products of combustion reactions. Sometimes the H2O is in vapor form, sometimes it's a liquid. Either way it's 100% natural.

It's called "Marauder Water" you are supposed to bless the cars behind you at a traffic light with it. :D :burnout:

I've noticed it on quite a few occasisions as well. Wondered can it be diminished/eliminated with a couple of bottles of Heet poured in the gas tank?

CVPIs do this also. Sit idleing long enough and it starts to gurggle

Think of it this way: If you're on a deserted island, you'll have enough water as long as the premium holds out......

It's a very good sign!

I have never seen it. Must be because I am ahead of other cars and Marauders.

Yep, if you don't have a lot coming out when the air is thick with moisture then something isn't right.

The water is from/a by-product of combustion. If it was in the gasoline, the engine wouldn't even run. I believe Hydrochloric acid is another by-product.

I have just never seen this phenomenon on any other car. I'll have to pay attention the next time I'm following a Challenger...er Mustang as I don't follow Challengers.

There is a good chance that most of what you've seen have aftermarket exhausts without the OEM muffler weep holes??
Mine pour water and I have 18" Magnaflows with no holes per TAF at Grand??
I've thought of drillin' a couple holes to at least drain the mufflers??

Thanks for the insight. Never knew that, guess i should have paid more atention in chemistry class. So far the Marauder is the only car i've seen do it.

Now you know the origin of the "waterfall" logo !

Years ago with my first CV I was helping trying to get my brother's Jeep going and it's battery was seriously dead. So it meant that the car idled for quite a long time. It was well below freezing so the muflers couldn't really heat up. So after a while it started sounding like a boat idling with the gurgling noise.

Its Marauder nectar from the gods lol. I had a friend behind me once and he calls me on my cell phone saying there is something wrong with my car cause a lot of water coming from both exhaust,I just laughed of coarse. On cold mornings taking off from a stop I will see 2 long streams of water on ground in my rear view mirror, but only when its cold out do I see this. And I do have aftermarket mufflers with no drain holes .
