Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, I would like to put together a short run from San Antonio to Austin using the new SH 130. It has the highest speed limit in the country at 85 MPH. And the toll is free 'til 11-11-12

We can take it from Seguin to either south of Austin 45 to 35 or to Pflugerville which is North of Austin and come back down 35 and make a pass by the new Circuit of the Americas F1 track.

Anyone interested???

In theory I can do it. My car is kinda hurt, so going to get it looked at, but I can always take another car.

I'm making trips to Houston on a fairly frequent basis now and for the foreseeable future, so I'm kinda trying to cut back on the miles I put on my car elsewhere. Sounds like a fun day, but I just can't do it. :(

I would love to join in...talked to the wife about doing that earlier today...we almost drove down from Wimberley today in fact.
Depends on the date...will keep watching to see when you might get this going.
I certainly do intend to get on the new road and try out that 85 mph before Nov 11.

I was thinking about 10 am on Saturday November 10 with the starting point being in Seguin. There is a nice big rest stop about 3-1/2 miles west of the toll road on I-10....anyone think this is a good spot to meet?

Im going to make a test run this Sunday to check out meeting spots and to see if we can even get near the track.

MMCatus: If yall dont want to go all the way across to Seguin and then back again you could meet us at 80 and 130 south of Lockhart.

It's weird cause I drove the toll roads all summer and they were 80mph, now they are 85mph, I still only went about 75-80mph....

But to get some incentive to get people thinking big:

I noticed that....the only part of the toll road that is 85 are segments 5 & 6. That is from Seguin to SH130 and 45 and then its 80 from there on.
