I need new tires for a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis standard rims, i'm looking for sporty treads but its my every day car so if anyone could give me some suggestions that would be very helpful.
It all depends on your specific needs. Do you need drive in tiemp less than 40 degrees? How much driving in the rain vs dry and why kind of rain do you get? Driving style? How many miles do you drive per year on average?
I recommend spending some time on tirerack.com reading reviews, tests and surveys.
A key thing to consider is that how much do your drive per year as tires age out and loose their traction particularly in the wet even though they may have a lot of tread left. Depending on who you ask 4-6 years is the max recommended age. In other words buying a tire that will last 80K does not make sense if you only drive 10K per year on the other hand if you drive 20K per year those Michelins that will last 80K are a good idea.

i'm looking for sporty treads Do you mean treads that LOOK cool, or a tire that handles well?
Is your car a GS? Does it have 16" or 17" rims? Rear sway bar? ABS? Traction control? All of these things can make a difference in your tire selection.

Handle well, I need a track/all weather balance tread, my car is a GS with 16" standard rims no mods yet no swaybar I have TCS with a cut off and ABS I am going to spend a few hours on tirerack.com also what I meant by this post was i wanted to know what you guys use on your panthers
Personally on my GM I run snow tires on the stock wheels and CV LX Sport 17" wheels with BFG KDW in 235/55. I've seen good reviews of the Continental Extreme Contact DWS and I considered them for the GM but since I already had snow tires I decided I didn't need All Season tires for it.
