Just sit in the seat all pull straight down and in and it will hook on the seat frame underneath.

Thanks from me too. Mine has been hanging for a month. Tried fiddling with it once without much success.

Long term fix, remove the seat, flip it over, secure the flap to the metal tab that it hooks on with some sheet metal screws, and then reinstall the seat; voila!

Yeah, that flap can be a bear to put back in place if not familiar with the way it attaches. Mine hung down for about year with a few attempts during the heat and cold. Just finally went for it and it fell in place pretty easy once got the jist of it.

I did the same thing and felt kinda dumb once I figured it out...it really is easy, just not obvious.
The slot in the white plastic strip snaps into place under the front edge of the seat frame. You have kinda wrap the cover material in the opposite direction of what you might think at first, but it really does go in easily once you get it. No tools required...

The trick is to pull it down, then kind of roll it under.

Thanks!
I plan on tackling this task once I'm done at work.

Much easier if you take the seat out.
Had to do mine 2x's.
It comes loose because the leather stretches.
The second time I used pop rivets to secure it.

Thanks again Jim for your suggestion.
Wow lots of work just for a little flap which from what I can see does virtually nothing.
Maybe just keeps the leather cover taught/tight with the cushion/pad.

^^^you're right about a bit of work. Didn't notice any difference when put back in place.^^^ Takes a bit of pulling to get it to roll back over correctly.
Guess the best you get is peace of mind.

WOW...eventually EVERYTIHNG shows up on this site for our beloved vehicles.
When I got my DTR '04 from the original owner two years ago this month, that thing was hanging down from the seat...took me a while to notice it and then when I would try to fix it, I had not much luck.
Now I think I can do it...
and I will no longer feel like there is something wrong with the bloody seat when I look at it.
Thanks again.

I put a bit of (think less is more) contact cement or clear silicone in the plastic groove before snaping it back in place. Stays put and if you ever do need to remove it, it will pull off.

It's not lots of work. It literally takes about 5 seconds to put back into place.
I do several members cars every year at Carlisle and Louisville.
Child's play.

I had this problem on my old mm, but never bothered me. my question is what makes that flap fall out in the first place? Seems a lot of owners have this problem

I figured out how to get the leather on the front of the seats to attach where it is supposed to go. So far, it has stayed put. The plastic clip on the edge of the leather attaches to a lip on the metal seat bottom. To attach, grab the plastic clip, rotate 360 degrees and slide it up over the metal lip. Once on, push/pull firmly upward on the clip to securely seat it on the metal lip. It' seemed easier to start on one side of the seat, get the clip on, and then work across the remainder of the seat.
I have attached a graphic that hopefully will make this easy to visualize. Imagine cutting the seat bottom in half, front to back, then look at one half of the seat from the side.

The leather stretches over time and use making it loose. That is why I mechanically secured mine.

Common on all panthers.
Both of my crown Vic's do it and my grand marquis did it. And none of those cars had leather seats.
It's just the was the seats were designed.
It's no big deal. Doesn't hurt anything if it comes down and super simple to put back into place.

Had the exact same problem on both seats in my '96 T-Bird.

Phoebe's previous owner had the seat covers replaced due to cigarette burns from the original owner. When we got her, the flap on the passenger seat was hanging...as Waymon said earlier, once you figure it out it's literally a snap to reattach. That was in '07 and it's still in place.

Seems others either A. Figured it out quite easily, or B. had the common decency to wait for an answer that helped them and not take a pot shot at a person willing to help. I could have given you my phone # and explained it very well if needed, done so many times for repairs. Sorry if you couldn't figure it out, it's not exactly a square peg/round hole. I thought you would have figured it out quite quickly as the tab is rather long and must surely fit something else about the same length. But my inner dumbass as you say should have known better by reading your third grade writing. KID.
Your hatred in so many posts truly makes me laugh. Keep it up and you will have ZERO help around here.

You have to twist and force it onto the metal ridge. My passenger side one comes off about every other month. I'm thinking next time I do it I may run a small set screw through it or use some Shoe Goo. I've also debated on trying super glue.

A couple of pop rivets and washers has worked on mine for about 7 years.
