Recently I wrote about what an idiot I was to use my claybar without the lubricant that comes with it. Have no idea what I was thinking since I am so meticulous in everything I do. So I had these ugly claybar marks in the finish and nothing helped get them out. So desperate times call for desperate measures. I bought a $ 30 Ryobi buffer at Home Depot, Meguirers Ultimate Compound and compounded my black MM. I finished it off with Turtle Wax Ice polish. I am stunned at how the scratches that accumulated over 8 years of ownership were removed and the deep black shine like when I drove the car home from the dealership returned. I did this about a month ago and since then Hurricane Sandy hit (no damage to mine or my family's possessions thank God) and it still looks great. I remember years ago compound was very gritty but Meguiars is like putting on polish. I highly recommend this. And oh by the way, I use Weiman's Metal Polish that I get at my local Shop Rite Super Market. It says you can use on chrome and aluminum. The chrome exhaust tips come out incredible with this stuff. I'm going to try it on the inside of those darn crummy rims since you can use on aluminum. The funny thing is I bought it originally to polish my stainless steel kitchen sink and it worked great but when I read the label it said you could use on chrome and that's how I started using it on the exhaust tips. Been using for a few years now and beats any chrome polish I ever used !

I black boxed my car two days ago, I had also forgotten how deep the black can really be on these cars.

The exhaust tips are polished stainless steel .... not CHROME. Maybe that is why it worked so well. :D

Be careful when doing the rims as they are clearcoated aluminum. Don't use anything on them that you wouldn't use on the paint on the body.

Cool, cool. May have to try that.

We're the swirls really removed? I heard that buffer doesn't generate enough power/heat to actually do a good job?

You're saying otherwise. I'm tempted to follow you

Again, pics or it didn't happen. I've been wanting to do this myself but, want to see the outcome.
