I just recently noticed at night (pitch black) that when I push toward WOT my headlights dim significantly. They come back to regular brightness when I let off. Also, when idling I notice my gauge lights flicker to the engine cycle. Is any of this a problem?

I'm an early owner, June '02, and I've owned two MMs. This sounds like a normal side affect of WOT to me. The altenator has a clutch on it that disengages under hard acceleration, and this may cause some temporary "flicker" in illumination. Likewise the air conditioning. WOT causes the A/C system to briefly blow warmer air because the compressor clutch disengaged. If you can stimulate this with less than WOT, you may need some minor fine tuning.

^^^ what SergntMac said^^^

Also, it's apparently normal for the gauge lights to flicker a bit at idle...I say "apparently" because it doesn't seem to affect every car, but many people have mentioned it...

ditto...and that goes for all MM's including S/C'd as well as N/A.
