This one is for the Trilogy, Eaton swap and Whipple guys.

Who's running an aftermarket convertor and what's the stall speed?

Also, if you are running a higher than stock stall convertor on your car what do you see as pros or cons?

Rex, i had a 3500 in my car and didnt like it at all. i dont really recommend that high of a stall for a street car. it can be quite annoying. im sure some one will chime in with what speed to go with.

Out of curiosity, what was the most annoying part? Did you just have to give it a lot of extra gas to get it moving from a stop?

Under 450 HP, stock converter is fine - in my car.

Yeah, I know they make a big difference in centri cars, just wondering how a higher stall would work on an Eaton swap.

Yeah, I remember your car, Dave. Got to agree, 3,500 seemed high, took a bit to get the car going, but once it did, it was definitely in the power band... ;)

HP is irrelevant. Converter choice should be based on gear/cam selection and how it relates to your powerband.

I wouldnt go lower than 2800 stall on these cars no matter what setup it has. The car's powerband and weight says it all. Why people swear on the stock converter is beyond me.
**** i have a 3800 that i will be using in the next week or so.

I have a PI Stallion 3000rpm torque converter in my car.

Pros:
Faster off the line at the track. (Consistent 1.7xx with good tires.)

Cons:
Feels "sluggish" at part throttle on the street.
More slip = more heat on the street/strip. (I have a 2nd external cooler.)

I had the converter in before the S/C, so I was already used to the way it behaves. Personally, I don't have a problem with the way it drives on the street.

I have a PI 3500 stall with being NA it's sluggish off the line at part throttle, but it gets going quickly with some pressure on the go pedal. If I were to get another one it would most likely be a Circle D 3000 stall.

Also a re-tune for the trans shift schedule and converter lock-up may be needed with upgrading one to get the full benefit of the upgrade.

Rex, i've been Bangin' the drum for 3600-3800 circle D triple plate.
I got it from BOC cause Lonnie Doll knows what combos work the best!
I love the way the car drives at slight throttle, part, middle & of course Balls to thee wall!
It is an effecient convertor so it does not feel at all like a PI, I know I had one both N/A & with the blower.
jymud had a twirl in the #93 Trilogy before it threw pieces parts, Maybe he can chime in & give you some objective feedback.

Thanks, Brad, and yeah, would like to hear from jymud with his thoughts as well.

Ditto. traction is a real issue with Slayer1, even with widened wheels and Nitto 555's on 18 pounds of air......
Normal driving for me is not a problem.

I'm running a 2800 stall 9.5" convertor with 4.10 gears. Can get a 1.7 60' with a cooked t-loc. It's a blast on the street with 265 Nitto's, tire haze all the way through 1st.

Brads car drives good for having that much stall think traction is a issue TBone has less converter on a na his feels good and the driving mannerism of it is fine on the street but you lay into it it comes right around

My 2800 to 3200 TC along with my headers and other mods has proven to be superb in my NA car, in my ever so humble opinion. I ****ing love it!
