I have now burned up my 3rd CAT in about a year. It is always the one on the passenger side of the car. I'm using the Magnaflow Hi-Flow CAT.

After the second one burned up I put in a new tune (Marty) to see if this may fix it. I guess not.

Any ideas?

Yes...Takem out. GA doesn't have in spections does it? Besides, have a tune done so she runs super clean and put a faux looking one for the special day.:banana2:

Do you have an exhaust leak in front of the cats? Or maybe a leaking injector? Remember, a bad cat is the effect...not the cause.

Bring the car to us and let us look at it.

It is not likely a tuning issue because if the car is fat (rich) it is not likely to be fat on one side.

Sometimes after market cats just suck which is why they cost $80 instead of a factory cat which costs $400.

Either way, bring it to us and we will look at it and get it straightened out.

Thanks Marty. Not in any way blaming your tune, just stating that it may be an issue other than the tune since it has happened with two different ones.

Oh, I did not think you were trying to blame me. I hope it did not come out that way.

I was posting so that folks understand what I was saying and why.

Let me know when you want to come up and I will get you on the schedule.

I think my cats were around $300 for the pair, 200 cell count magnaflows. Been on over two years and no problems.

Thanks Marty. Another example of your great customer service. Are you open the Saturday after Thanksgiving?

I have the high flow Magna cats also for over a year. Maybe a bad injector causing extra fuel? Marty'll figure it out.

I am not 100% sure as we sit here now I think we will be but the boys are grumbling about a day off. LOL!

Jeff is going to PRI for us the following weekend, so most likely he (and I) can probably see you Saturday the 24th (right after Thanksgiving).

Damn, that was long winded even for a lawyer!!!!!!!!

I am pretty sure that should work.

Just double check with me at the beginning of the week.

Any race fuel used? The lead will kill the CAT.

No race fuel, always 92. Have considered Reindeer dung though.

Maybe check the pass. side kick panel for loose wiring, and remove the cat from your car

Looks like we may have this figured out. Two things are going on. One, I hit something (don't recall this) there is a dent in the cat. And two, the end of the cat was expanded to fit over the exhaust pipe. This causes the space around the brick to expand just enough to cause a small space which will eventually cause the brick to fail.
