Well I was having problems with my climate control. You know the one...air defaults to the vent setting. Also I was having erratic blower function, most of the time it would only blow full blast, then sometimes it would cut out randomly then on very rare occasions I would regain full control over it until I'd hit a bump then it would cut out then default back to full blast. Well I figured it was just a EATC with bad O-rings and a fried board..so I ordered a new (refurbished by a "Ford Master Technician") off ePay. I got it in record time and the unit looks brand new but when I went to install it I found that the vacuum cluster wasn't even hooked up and it had a "jumper" hose from one of the fittings to another. I didn't think anything of it when pulled the jumper and hooked up my new (refurbished) EATC. Well...now the air is stuck on defrost mode...and my blower is still blows only one high and cuts out and all that jazz...:censor:! I did notice that the vacuum cluster looks like it is missing at hose though as there is one spot on it that looks like a hose is supposed to go there but there isn't. Question is, am I really missing a hose? Is my new EATC unit faulty too? Or do I have other problems that I need to tear apart my dash to fix? :mad2:
Can anyone help?!

There is one port that has no hose going to it if I remember correctly.

If it's still coming through the defrost vents it means there is still a vacuum leak. Could be the EATC o-rings, or somewhere else in the system.

The blower cutting out is usually the BCM in the engine compartment.

I can test the EATC and I have repaired BCM's available.

PM me.

Hose inlet at top of cluster is open.

The EATC is refurbished, now I would like to think that it means it is good but I know better. But I would like to give the guy the benefit of the doubt before I go claiming bad new parts.

I couldn't find any vacuum leaks in the system and there is a good source of vacuum at the connector at the back of the EATC unit. Is there a way I can test the unit?

My climate control situation is that the blower directs the air to the defroster and floor with nothing coming out of the vents. Help?

Run the self test.

The temperature inside the car should be between 40 & 90 degrees.
With the car running.
Press the OFF and Floor buttons at the same time, then press the AUTOMATIC button within 2 seconds.
The display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display.
The test can run as long as 30 seconds.
Record all the DTC(s) displayed. Diagnostic Trouble Code = DTC

Post what you find.

Sounds like the o-rings need to be replaced. PM me, I can fix it for you.

I could never get this test to work on my old unit. Haven't tried it on my new/used one.

I do it all the time on my EATC.

Mine is shot and the test didn't show anything wrong.

I recently did the O-ring mod in a working unit I purchased because under load the vents would move to defrost. Works perfect now.

I seriously think some go BAD, either the little noid's go bad or the board does.

Well I did the test as you said but nothing happened. No pulse tracker, no codes, nothing. This is supposedly a "refurbished" unit done by a "Ford Senior Master Technician"...eBay seller "gnsclimaterepair". I already sent my old unit back to him. Guess he will be getting a call tomorrow and maybe some feedback to reflect my mood right now.

Well I kept messing with it and I got the self test to run. Got a flashing 025 code. I cleared it and magically I get heat now...weird. I wasn't getting heat 5mins ago before I cleared the code. Anyways, I still don't have control over the modes...its just stuck on defrost.

025 DTC is Blend door short or failure. Looks like a blend door replacement is in your future.

Sometimes running the self-test resets the blend door... it will fail again.

Air only coming out the defrost is most likely bad o-rings. I can fix that for you.

It's a newly refurbished unit...I'll take it up with the eBay seller. How much of a mother is that blend door? This car is really starting to piss me off with all of its electrical problems...

Good luck with the eBay seller......

The blend door motor is about $75.00. I takes about 4 - 5 hours to install it.

Hey, why is it so hard to get the unit to do this test? Am I doing something wrong? tried it about 20 times. Any tips?

I don't know. The directions I posted are right from the Ford Shop Manual.
