What if all of a sudden "Premium Fuel" (91 to 93 Octane) became unavailable??? :argue:

My local Shell station ran out this week and they told me that there was a nationwide shortage of Premium fuels and they didn't know if/when they would get any!!

Is there any way to run 89 Octane with a blower tune......pull a bunch of timing and pray for the best??

If things get really tough Premium may be the first fuel to go Bye-Bye!!:o

Thoughts??:cool4:

Adjust the tune and stay out of the boost.

Hmmmm......then just take the blower off and chunk it Marty??:(

Might as well have a Fusion then??:shake:

Alot of today's cars run on premium fuel, BMW, Audi, Subaru WRX, etc. I can't see premium becoming non-existant. It may be an isolated instance where you are at this time.

Hope you are right......it is the lowest volume by far around here!!

I hope i am right too, I dont wanna de-tune..I wanna tune more when I can get a intercooler. :banana2: I'm sure cars like BMW, Audi etc are just a fraction of the cars out there but dang..go to Toronto or California and they are everywhere..heck I even see them here in Akron, OH all the time.

Agreed.

Could be a situation where shipments from refineries were disrupted due the the large East Coast storm, and there's a downstream domino effect, or maintenance-related shutdowns at one or more refineries are creating spot shortages. Got to agree, the market for premium isstill prtty strong.

Wow, what a coincidence! My local Shell station here in Southern California ran out of premium this week also.

Anybody else?

Not here.

97 octane's selling for less than a buck a gallon, and they've got plenty of it here in Qatar... ;)

I have been hearing of spot shortages in the DC/MD area of those ^^^^ items too. ;)

That has happened to me once or twice at the Shell station that I use. Maybe the problem is unique to Shell and their distribution system? :dunno: Haven't noticed similar at Sunoco or Exxon in the area.

If you're in a pinch, you can add toluene to your gas. It's 114 octane and from everything I've seen it's safe in your fuel system as long as you use a reasonable amount. You could probably get 89 to 93 with like a 25%-30% toluene mixture.

That only works if your car is tuned/set up for E85.

We should just take off the power adders and sell the Marauders. Then buy a Smart Car.
In truth the gas is made in Louisiana and Texas and since we are getting out of the Union we are savingthe fuel.

Well if you didn't have CATs you shouldn't have to worry about using leaded. :D

Well, O2 sensors don't love leaded fuel very much either.
