View Full Version : Odd hesitation off stop lights

Been driving my DBP for a few days now. I have noticed when sitting at a stop light I can take my foot off the brake and the car will not move until I hit the accelerator. When I hit the accelerator I get what feels like a "delayed release" of something either in the driveline or brakes before the car starts to move. It feels as if I have my foot partially on the brake and hit the accelerator to pull away with my foot still on the brake for a split second. I dont know a better way to describe this.
Today, while sitting in a parking lot I played around with the car. When the car is in reverse it does not do it. I let off the brake it moves backwards no problem (no accelerator input). Then I stop the car with the brake, put it in drive, 2, or 1 let off the brake and the car rolls forward an inch or two and slowly stops.
I have already pulled all the brakes apart, including the e-brake shoes and nothing is hanging up or sticking.
Anybody else experience this?
Any input would be appreciated.
I hope I am just overlooking something.

Stuck caliper piston(s). What color is your brake fluid?

Anybody else? Going to drop the pan Sunday and change the filter and fluid to see what I get. Fluid level might be slightly overfull. Its above the cross hatches and kinda bubbled when you check it running. Could be overfull causing issues. Either way, gotta figure this out. Thanks for the input.

Slightly over full oil will not cause hesitation as far as I know. I think your brakes may have an impact on the hesitation if something failed but it would mess with the car in reverse as well. I hate to add this but maybe transmission issues. Your forward gears may be messed up. Im not real good with transmissions so I cant add too much info but thats the only thing that really makes sense. Does your car need to be revved a lot ? For I stance does it feel like you are on an incline? Does the back end lift up and feel like youre about to do a burnout or launch?

No it feels normal except the takeoff hesitation. All gear engagements feel normal. I changed the fluid and filter yesterday and drove it around the block felt a little better. I am sure this car sat for a while, but just gonna keep driving it and see how it responds. I will be ordering my SCT Tuner and tune to help with the shift schedule. Maybe that will help it out by adding some line pressure. Either way, I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced what I am with the 4R70W.

The only things the 4R70W is "famous" for are a delay engaging reverse, and developing torque converter clutch shudder when the fluid gets old.
Never heard of "hesitation" on takeoff being an issue.

I've noticed something like that before. It's like the car just isn't "free" when you take your foot off the brake. I've checked my brake temps to make sure nothing is dragging.

Do you have a custom tune or are you completely stock.
