Recently, I wanted to make a short video as deconstruction day soon approaches.
I, located a vacant parking lot a few miles away from home to make a video,(More country than cop city). So,my wife and 9 year old daughter started recording as she cheered her dad on.
Well, at the very end of the video my daughter will say "Mom I heard something". Boy was she right, Made it about a half block before thermostat stop working.
Talk about a pissed off wife ,(:mad2: why would you want to destroy your tires? You know you could have blown your engine? etc.......... :bigcry:),as we wait onside the road for more than an hour for a tow truck.

Awesome video, but I have to ask, what did the sound, sound like? And what happens/how did you know it was the thermostat?

You can hear the sound in the video at 0:55. It was a loud hissing noise something I, will never forget. When I, opened the hood coolant was forcing it's way out of the reservoir from under the cap.
After towing my car home I, went to Auto Zone for a new thermostat and reservoir cap.

Part Number: 4089
Alternate Part Number: 15089
Thermostat Opening Temperature Rating 195 (°F)
After installing I, went for a test drive only about two blocks before overheating. Waited until the car cooled down and dissembled & reassembled for the second time. This time a few more blocks but same results... Hot!
After some research I, decided to call Napa for a new thermostat and cap. Napa recommended:

Awesome video though. And I'm sure the smile you had on your face during the burnout was worth the thermostat and wife

I did this in Colorado. 450 miles from home. I did a gentle, 3000rpm clutch dump and the car hooked. My wife goes "really?" So I reved the **** out of it and snapped the clutch. The look I got from her was beyond furious and still hear about it to this day. Damn thing snapped before I could even get my foot onto the brake. (was planning a smokey brake stand)

I drove to the show/auto-x and my wife was going to drive home. I got to hear ALL about it in the truck coming back. Luckily one of my friends that trailered his bad ass turbo stang drove and let us take his spot on the trailer.

Niccce!!!! Sometimes you just gotta have fun. No carbon buildup in your motor, and from a stock ride it makes it that much better. Thanks for the post......:burnout:
