Need some cheap brake pads for the rear, carquest has ceramic pads for like $25, but upon further investigation they seem to be a ceramic blend sort of thing. Not looking to spend much more than $30, any suggestions?

OEM is semi metallic that's what I got when replaced front ,liked the minimum dust and stopping power that they provide and also quiet ,so I'm happy.

Dear Whitey's wife,
If your brakes don't work you will die a horrible fiery death and the church bus full of orphans you hit will die with you because you thought to scrimp on your brakes.
Would you buy cheap shoes that were uncomfortable to walk in, other than F'me pumps for your man? No!
Would you buy bald tires for your car 'cause they were cheap? No!
Would you take any kind of advise from this man?

No!
Than let your man, who you love and who wants you to return home to him safe and sound each night buy the best brakes he can, because gosh darn it he loves you and you love him. :lovies:
If that don't turn your ole lady around try real estate. It's what every girl wants.:D

To maintain this topic I really want to get a bigger brake set up with drilled and slotted possibly brembo calipers. Anybody have suggestions?
And tell your wife that brillo pads dont work for brakes

I stuck with OEM and I'm happy with them for how I drive my MM. I know the pain of brake failure, it happened to me when I was 16yrs old. I still have the scars. VERY lucky to have survived... Please do not scrimp on brakes.

Theres a tool for depressing the piston and it works a million times better and faster than a c clamp haha old school methods still work though. When in doubt, or at home with no tools, use a c clamp

I wasn't setting any records on changing the pads, plus there are many other uses for a c clamp. I must ask you, do you use a mini pry bar to remove the pads...or just use a flat head screwdriver? :p

In addition to someone who is looking to do this, make sure after the job is done, and you have pumped the brake pedal to get it firm again, check you're brake fluid reservoir to make sure its not overfilled. I didn't, drove around for 20 min, did some hard braking, and when I thought to check it, it was wayyyy overfilled, had to siphon some fluid out, and noticed a few drops must have leaked out from over pressurizing the system....kind of scary thinking if that cap blew off.....how would I tell my wife I need to BUY brake fluid:lol:

I was just lending some advice for tools haha but yea that happened to me before when I just kept my hood closed while changing pads. One time the piston on the other side just came back out because of the pressure. Of course that would only happen with doing both at once.

Well being a mechanic isnt all its cracked up to be so I can only imagine what its like to shove a hose in dirt all day. Well.. when youre working. Im not working right now either and couldnt get a job if I tried. My license is suspended for 2 more weeks and you cant drive customers cars without one so im screwed. Its good though that youre capable of doing some maintenance. Saves you a ton of money.

+1 I agree. Don't cheap out on brakes or tires.
