As some know, the Detroit Autorama is one of the largest shows on the Autorama circuit. I was honored to be invited by Jerry Barnes to be his guest and bring my Marauder down to the show. I was there when the judges were going over my car, and I couldn't believe how picky and in depth they were! They checked the inside the wheel wells for dirt, and actually crawled underneath to see how clean the undercarriage was. Then the caught hold of the wide Nittos, exhaust work, gauges, and of course the Supercharger, one judge commented the car had a real aggressive hot rod feel to it now. For a daily driver, they noted the car was one of the cleanest at the show.
Bottom line, in spite of all the seasoned entries, and stiff competition in my class, my Marauder took FIRST place in her catagory, which was:
Contemporary Hardtop Musclecar, 2001 to present.
Needless to say I was stoked, Jerry said it is a real accomplishment to win at a show like this, I have go tell you, there were some nice cars there looking for that same trophy! Steve Babcock happened to be at there when I got the trophy and was impressed the big merc won! Felt it was time for another group picture! I think it goes to show that our cars are LOVED and admired. I heard that for 3 days, I dont think I sat down for more than 10 minutes at a time with folks asking questions about the Marauder in general, and specifically about the Supercharger and various mods that have been done. It was an exhausting 3 days, but what an experience. I need a bigger shelf for the trophies the Marauder has won! But this one by far means the most to me....

Congrats on the trophy:up: . Know that stretch of East I-94, travel it from SCS to Dearborn to SCS daily. Then again, being trailered to and from the show makes cleanup easier.http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif Congrats again.

Alright Dave! Congratulations on your win. Your evangelism is being rewarded. After all, what's cooler than a big black car with too much motor?
And you won a "Booth Babe" too! Where are you stashing that prize?

CONGRATULATIONS again.
Story reminded me of the first time I took my MM to the Track in July of 2002. More than 300 people came by and asked so many questions that by the end of the night I could barely talk.

Ok....TTA..you got me...whats a trailer queen?
A car that spends more time on a trailer than being driven. You know, those old classic cars that go from show to show - on a trailer instead of being driven because the owners are too scared if they get a smudge or a scratch they won't win next time.
(Steve was picking on you *hint* *hint*)

I can assure you that she gets driven hard and often! Hack is right about beating it like a red headed stepchild! On the way home I raced a bunch of guys that left the Autorama the same time I did, I may have fractured a speed limit or two....but not by much..honest.

Dude, congrats on the award, and well deserved. I can't wait to see that car in person. Haven't been up your way in a few weeks, but next time, if the weather is good, I'll bring mine as well.

Good work bro.... Hey who's your mechanic ;)
Don't you even think I didn't praise my master mechanic and tuner! The judges were impressed with the engine compartment and one of them thought the Supercharger was stock, when I told him it was aftermarked, he was VERY impressed. Not to mention prominant mention on my mods poster, and singing your praises. They all know who to see to handle their Marauders!

I will tell you Cruzer, I think we changed the minds of a few Mercury owners that looked at the car. I must have talked to at least 10 people that work at St. Thomas, half dozen engineers that designed various parts or systems for the car, my Dealership's Service Department Manager stopped by to see if I still loved him enough to stop by so he could drive it again! He wants to host a Marauder meet here in Metro Detroit like the one in Columbus last year, and may see if the Owner would like to have an Autorama Trophy winner in his showroom for some PR.

And you said "Yes sir!....And you know why (Mr. SM)...'cause it is SO cool how you've taken care of all my Warranty needs...true customer service....you BET you can drive it again, and again, and again..."
I KNOW you Dave!!!
