...so why couldn't Ford? Can you believe a 429 HP rear wheel drive Hyundai???

Because Ford didn't want to (for instance, no advertising, etc.). Thier heart wasn't completely into it.

Trucks and Mustangs seem to be the only things Ford knows how to do right. I'll bet they're still scratching their heads, wondering why not long ago every taxi, cop car and limo was a Ford and now they can't find anyone to buy a Taurus. Dolts.

I saw an article that the MKT wasn't selling well either. Guess people are still missing the Town Car.

For $60,000 keep it, when it comes down to it, it's still a Hyundai.

It's hard to convince someone to get rid of a RWD, V8, body on full frame car......for a front wheel drive, V6, unibody car. Regardless of how much power that V6 makes, or how good the fuel mileage may be. You just can't compare the TC, CV, MM, GM, to anything Ford offers now days, and IMO I don't blame people for not wanting any of the current F/L full-size offerings.

I always mistake them for Mercedes Benz's. They look just like them. I've seen very good reviews on these cars and as they are not quite up to Lexus and Infinity standards (yet) they are close and Hyundai catches on quick.
I would consider one. Ford, GM and Chrysler (even Cadillacs are teenie weenie now) are on a curve to make itty bitty cars for fat, tall Americans. Let's watch as they fumble the ball.
Our next vehicle will either be a truck or perhaps a big Euro barge, unless American companies decide to build big cars again.

The maintenance and repair costs on it will annihilate your bank account. I hear it all the time from Beemer owners. Don't put yourself through that hell.:bigcry:

59K is a lot of money? Compare that to marauders 34K. However is RWD and 8-speed:up:
I see more and more of these hyundai's on the road now a days.
Still not to my taste.(or needs)

Yeah. I've heard it too. But GM, Ford and Chrysler are not building anything enticing. Yeah the SRT8 is bad ass, but she doesn't like it enough to buy. She has some interest in the SHO but I'm not holding my breath and I can't recall anything from GM that's big roomy and fast. CTS is small. It seems like BMW, Mercedes, Jaguare, Hyundai, Lexus are the only ones who build a big powerfull RWD car with room to spare.

The Hyundai of today is not the Hyundai of yesterday, in a good way. That about sums it up really.
Personally, I'm becoming more and more of a sucker for BMW. They definitely cost an arm and a leg, but if you are in it for performance and not ONLY luxury, you most definitely get what you pay for, it's hard to compete with BMW when it comes to performance-package sedans.

BMW 2012 is not BMW 2007. BMW has decided to try and match Mercedes on a global sales marathon and their quality has slipped.(remind you of another company...Toyota)
Jaguar still hasn't found a company that can make electronics work.
Lexus quality has slipped along with parent Toyota.
Mercedes? I don't know that much about but I'm sure repair costs are astronomical.
Infinity might be a company to consider but their design is definitely in the eye of the beholder.
What else is there but Hyundai?

I had heard that actually now that you mention it, not something that comes to mind very frequently though. A number of my friends have Beamers from around the '02 to '05 era, one in particular has an M3 Dinan S2 model, which pretty roundly trounces on my Camaro in pretty much every aspect (and yeh, knock on Chevy since this is a Ford board, but the LS1 F-bodies have a hell of a lot of "go" in 'em still for being 10 years old.)
Our little group of car guys like to joke that the most perfect all-around car for reliability and performance would be a Chevy LS engine with a Tremec trans behind it, a Ford rear-end behind that, all put into a BMW body. :burnout:
Mr. Man

First time I ever saw a Dinan BMW the guy was putting on a very smokey burnout show. I never really thought about foreign cars doing smokey burnouts before that day. I was quite surprised actually. I'm told the Dinan's are very fast.

No offense to Ford, but I'm waiting to see if GM will be making the RWD SS for 2014.
Yeah ford is pissing me off with their offerings.
If you want a PERFORMANCE car (RWD V-8) and walk into a ford dealership the only thing you will be looking at is a mustang!
Either a 5.0, boss 302, Laguna seca, or Shelby GT-500! At the end of the day it's still a mustang!!!
Don't get me wrong! The stangs kick ass but I can't fit in one (comfortably)!
I want a FULL SIZE RWD V-8 sedan!

I was just going to ask if the coming Impala SS will be rear wheel drive then that might a consideration here...I think I remember reading it was going to be...isn't it to be based on another Australian version as Pontiac did some time back...or did I just make that up?
And...I talked to a guy in our local grocery store parking lot last week who had a new Genesis Spec version...darn nice looking car and he said it was way faster than any recent vehicle he had owned...Mercedes...BMW...Lexus ...he did not indicate which one of those he had...and he mentioned he expected that the Genesis would hold up much better over the long haul (who knows?) and be cheaper to service and repair if needed when the warrenty expired...which will be some time of course.
Yep...429 hp is impressive.

I currently sell Hyundai's, and am looking at the back of a 2013 EQUUS now... these cars r no joke... Now I personally would only by a blue oval product, but these Hyundai's are REALLY NICE!!!! When you buy an EQUUS, you never have to drop off your car for service... the dealership has to come and pick up the car, and give you another EQUUS to drive while your s is getting its scheduled maintenance. these things are cooler and more loaded then a benz s550!!!

Last year when I bought my 04 SB, I bought it from a couple who were going to trade it in on a new Hyundai Genesis. Now they've got the Genesis R Spec with that 400+hp engine. Those folks loved the Marauder, but they really seemed to be smitten with the Genesis.
This is, in fact, a bad-ass car. The CBT approves as of lunchtime today.

An impressive V8 drives the rear wheels
The commanding 429-hp*, 5.0L GDI V8 engine is paired with a premium 8-speed automatic transmission. And of course, rear-wheel drive. Engineered to leave its mark on the luxury performance sedan market. *Premium fuel (421-hp on regular).
I love this. Even Hyundai realizes that only an idiot would not have rear-wheel drive on a luxury performance sedan. An idiot like the ones at Ford.
