O.k. guys this will seem like a dumb question but which way do our engines rotate when looking at them? Clockwise or counterclockwise? The reason I am asking is because my MM has been sitting for several months and the engine will not turn over with the key so I want to turn it by hand.

All of the electrical comes on but it's a no crank no start situation. I just want to eliminate a seized engine factor before I go chasing the problem. My battery reads 12.5 v without cables attached and 8-9v with them on, so there is a serious voltage drop somewhere.

once you spin it at least once what about your cables? are they in good shape? rust, corrosion, eaten by something? was the car sitting for a long time outside or inside? outside you may have some corrosion around your ground or somewhere near your terminal cables. also id check to see that your battery is charged enough to get it started. maybe add a jump box to it when you go to start it. if it starts with the jump box keep it on there for about 3 minutes. when youre ready to disconnect it, disconnect the power side first and just stand there for a second and see if it starts to studder and stall. your alternator may have taken a dump. it might be seized or starting to lock up causing too much stress on the battery to start it. ive had this issue with an older car and it may help a bit.

Was the engine running before? If so the motor wouldn't be seized by just sitting for a short period of time.

I'd check all the battery connections at the battery, at the starter and all the two grounds.

Cables are in good shape and there is no corrosion. I need to check the cable at the block and the car was sitting outside for several months. I tried starting it with a jump box and still it's a no go.

Try jumping it with another vehicle.

Take the battery out and bring it to a FLAPS or Sears so it can be checked.

By all eletrical you mean all the dash board lights lite up when you try to start?
If thats the case try moving the shifter further forward. May not have engaged the neutral safety switch. Have had this happen to me once.

When all else fails, tap the starter a few times.

The fact that the battery reads 12.5v with the terminals disconnected and 8-9v when you connect the battery, but are not cranking, means that you have a bad battery or a serious draw, ie hundreds of amps. If you have that big of a draw means it will give a huge spark when you connect or disconnect the last cable. That is not a voltage drop a voltage drop is when a wire or connection is not capable of carrying the current that is being demanded.
