I'm a happy camper today I just installed my JLT intake this morning and attempted to cut off my rear cats immediately after but ran into a couple of problems. Well really only one. The tip for my jigsaw was the wrong one I guess so I hacked the first cut up a little then the tip broke so I had to go to Lowes and buy the correct ones so I bought two. I came back and cut those things off like butter and drove to the exhaust shop. I must say this thing was super loud while I was driving everyone was looking up whenever I drove by. So I got to the shop and the guy pulled it in and was like why was it so loud I told him it was some piping missing and he pulled it up on the lift. He immediately said someone stole the cats off and he could put me a pair on and install my 4'' tips for 540. I was like HELL NO! So I asked could he just weld pipe in and he went on to give me his little spat about inspections and all that crap. So I smiled and told him i'd come back after I had more money...NOT! So I went to this other muffler shop that he bad mouthed by the way and saw a older gentleman there. We talked and he said he couldn't weld the tips in because their stainless and he does his welding old school. But he said he could go on and weld the pipe in for 80 so I was like cool and he welded them in about 15 minutes. Sounds pretty good now and in the morning i'm going to get my tips welded on by this other guy for 55. It should sound even better then. :burnout:

So what's the verdict? More power, better sound?

Yea i must say it adds a little more power and it sounds really good. I think I'll get mufflers now probably the super 40 flowmasters to put it over. The car is way more fun to drive now. I caught a guy in a newer 5.0 watching me take off at a light so i guess it does a little something.

Is there any drone? I have Marauder mufflers on my 99 and its sounds good but not quite as deep as the Marauder (im very specific with the sound of my car) . I was considering cutting the rear cats since they are bad but I dont want it as loud as my glasspacks were and with the drone.

Very little performance increase from a JLT either. Stock airbox flows pretty well, the JLT just sounds a whole lot better.

:D yea that's what I'm hoping for. I saw a guy today at the gym in a black marauder I've saw the car around a couple of times but never knew who drove it. Anyways as i was walking to my car he starts revving his engine trying to make some noise everything sounded completely stock. I was almost tempted to get in my car and let my rear catless marauder breathe but i decided not to. Now if i had those aeros this would have been a different story.

I have had a K & N air intake on for some time and really like the sound when hitting the go pedal...the rear 4" res delete tips are still in the box and the rear cats are still on...darn it.
No time yet to get those two things done...but soon...

I don't sorry man, the car is in mass and I'm stationed in SC. There are a few similar set ups on YouTube though.

How do you clean the MAF and IAC? My car has about 78K on it. Can you tell a difference and do you think I should do it?

thanks for everything case I hope your new year is going great and to tallpaul you should definitely clean the maf and iac you can definitely tell. mine was full of all type of crap. I learned a lot so maybe when I have some free time I will clean them a little more thorough. Case your car is awesome though I need to have my car run like yours and your engine bay is super clean.

Pull the MAF off and use MAF cleaner. Be very very careful so you don't break the thin wire in the MAF. Make sure it's dry before installing it.
Remove the IAC and clean with carb cleaner. You may or may not need a new gasket.
I'd also clean the throttle body. Use Throttle Body cleaner.

Right on, we'll do a deep cleaning one day. Pull parts, blast them, grill some grub, life is good.
