I know hard to believe.

No, I didn't rob a bank.

Today I took my daughter to the orthodontist (preping for braces). The office is located in a strip mall style grouping of stores and parking is at a premium. I parked ole Defyant Marauder in a parking stall in front of a bank and attended the appointment.

Ironically, when the bill for what the braces are going to cost, my cell phone rang. It was a member of my agency asking me if my license plate was: DEFYANT and is it parked in front of the above bank?

Why yes it is I replied, whats the problem I asked?

Well, it seems Defyant Marauder was menacing the tellers mearly by her sitting there, backed in the spot.....just...... looking at them. They thought someone was about to rob the place!

In fairness, we've had a few robberies lately (t'is the holiday season ya'know) and banks around us are on edge to say the least. I went in introduced myself, you know, off duty LEO and had a laugh.

So why is this ironic? IM GUNNA HAVE TO ROB A BANK TO PAY FOR THESE DAMN BRACES! :mad2:

Are you kidding me?! The bank tellers were afraid of your car because of the licence plate. My God people are stupid. :shake:

I hear you on the braces though. I remember my parents mumbling about the cost 35 years ago.

Seriously Charlie what would have happened to you if you weren't a cop? Would your dept really have sent officers out to investigate because bank tellers didn't like your licence plate? How would that conversation have gone?

WOW...what a story.
Great car yours is though...I have never seen it.
My cousin is an orthodontist in Dallas...LOVES his Porsche 911 Carrera S 4...guess things have not changed much since I had braces in Houston as a kid MANY years ago...and my guy had a new Vette every year...my parents paid a lot for that ride.

Yes! Luckily, the dispatcher who took the call is a friend and immediately recognized the tag and knows me personally! They were able to call me and head off the "call for service"

The real joke is, they reported my car was there for a week! I dont think the Marauder was outside overnight since last January +/- when the engine went back into the Mustang! LOL

No harm / no foul, better to be safe than sorry - especially lately.

Guess I got the effect I was going for in my avatar......

Great story Charlie,
We told you that was the best shadow pic of a Marauder on the web.
Probably good thing they didn't know it was a Marauder or they would have really been scared.

If your car was there for a week call a metermaids and have it towed. How does your car being there a week (I know it wasn't) translate into bank robbery?

It sort of is a harm and foul .It just happens you are a cop and your buddy knew it was your car. What if it was my car? I would hope I would not be arrested for taking my kid for braces because some sh**head at the bank is a nervous douche'. It just peeves me. I'm not mad at you Charlie I'm just mad at the absurdity of the whole story. Your lucky your a cop, imagine the scenario if you weren't.

Note to self: use Prius for bank robbery. Then there's the problem of making it out of the parking lot by the time authorities arrive..

You guys are a trip! Great responses@

Mr. Man, you'd have nothing to worry about. Trust me, we get goofy calls like this all the time. We investigate the callers concern and determine weather it is founded or not. If I were not a member of the agency that took the call, this would have been a complete waste of time! But anyone can call 911 for any reason they want. And the recent robberies have all the Sheep in fear of the Wolf!

You were a victim of "Vehicular Profiling". ;) Bad Azz Car, Strip Mall, Bank, Backed Into the Spot = Quick Get-away. You fit the profile and the MO. Just admit it. :P

I agree with Mr. Man...it's absurd to call 911 over a car being parked in a legitimate spot in the middle of the day.

I could understand if it was close to closing time, and you were sitting in the car with the engine running for a long time, or pacing back and forth in front of the bank's entrance, but really.....
