This is an off shoot of a previous thread.

I am currently not having any issues with my '03 Marauders' stock air ride system.
However, I have an 06 Mercury Grand Marquis that has a definite issue.
There was an air ride option but mine did not come with it.
I have 119K on the car and I bought it with 38K. I drive it for work primarily and carry alot of weight in the trunk in the form of catalogs/ paperwork.

Today I replaced the tires.............got 80K out of the last set.
I have researched shocks and considered installing an air ride suspension until I came across strutmasters.com.
In the case of the Mercury and Lincoln using an air ride suspension, here is a sight dedicated to the replacement or alternative to the oem system.
What I found intriguing was that they contracted with Eibach to produce replacement rear springs as a cost effective replacement for failing air bags.
Eibach made front coil replacements for the Marauder, but until now I had never heard of an alternative to the air system.

I have ordered the Eibach rears for my Marquis. I'm already running the stock sway bars from my Marauder (Addco's front/rear on MM now) on the Marquis, so I'll see how this spring change helps. I also ordered front and rear KYB Gas-a-Just struts and shocks.
Everything should arrive this weekend, so I'll update after install.

So a spring for spring replacement? Wonder what the Eibach's are rated at vs. the GM OEM's ? Subscribing:)

The compressor in my 2004 MM went out this week for the second time. I decided to replace the air springs with coils to avoid air suspension problems in the future. I found a set of progressive springs at Autozone for $100.00. Installed them yesterday and the ride height is perfect.
I had watched a couple videos from Strutmasters and noticed that they didn't put any isolators in, so I didn't install the ones that came with the springs. I contacted Strutmasters and they said their springs don't require isolators because they are powder coated. I would appreciate any input on the installation of isolators.

How does it handle now?

A little quicker response in cornering and a little more feel of the road from the rear. I'm anxious to put some weight in the rear to see how the springs handle it and see if it softens the ride. Very happy to be away from air system.
