Mercman and I just swung by the local F/L/M dealer and apparently Mercury gave them the official word today that the Marauder will be no more after '04. model year. I knew it was coming but hearing the words in person was so very painful. :bigcry:

The Thunderbird isn't long for this world either. Ford only scheduled it for a 17 month run. It may come back later, but that's up to the powers that be. So the short run for the Marauder isn't a suprise. Their poor marketing of the car and high price did it in just like the Lincoln Blackwood. However the Marauder did get on Speed Channel unlike the Blackwood. Come to think about it, I never did see the Blackwood in a commercial. :flamer:

Jim - I believe I saw that Marauder on Saturday at Atlantic City, NJ. I was displayed for sale by a Cherry Hill Buick/Hummer dealer. They were asking $25,700. I think they were ready to deal. It was in excellent condition.

What is that? I've never herd of one of those Lincoln Blackwood.

I wonder what the final production run for the 04 MM will be. I think we are gonna be a lot rare-er than the 94-96 SS :D

How accurate do you think this info is? Must dealers don't even know what the MM is to begin with.

Well last year there were dealers who claimed they had info from Mercury that stated the Marauder was done for the '03 model year. Then there was an '04.

But then as BDJ says, it was only planned to be around until 2005, which would be the end of the '04 run.

Ain't that the truth!

My first discussion ever about buying a Marauder was in early 2003 with a young girl in a steak house. She stopped at my table and said HI. I told her I would give her $30,000 cash for the first Marauder they got in. She explained they had several in stock right now.... come to find out she thought I was talking about some sort of 4X4 SUV. I had to tell her what a Marauder was. She said she had never heard of such a thing and that I was probably speaking of a black Grand Marquis with the bucket seat package.

Well this is exactly why I bought the Marauder. I am planning on keeping this car for the rest of my life to be a collector along with my 88 Grand Marquis. The two year run just makes our cars that much more valuable in the future. I got a great deal on the MM as it was a leftover from 03 that I bought in Jan. of 04. The dealers around Wisconsin are not stocking the 04 MM because sales were so poor in 03. So I think finding a leftover 04 in the spring of 05 may be hard to come by.
