Has anyone ever removed the speaker for the seat belt warning? Im not even sure how it works or where its at. Mine makes a weird noise every like third ding almost as if theres something moving around in front of it. I want to remove it completely so it doesmt even make the noise anymore.
I tried to search for it but no results came up so anyone with any info ill gladly accept it. Thanks in advance.

These cars have the most obnoxious seat belt reminder ever, louder than hell and won't give up for about half an hour.

All the sounds...seat belt minder, headlight-on, key-in, etc...come from the LCM. There's a transducer mounted to one of the circuit boards that could be unsoldered, but then you would lose every sound, if that matters. I hate all the "reminders", but I've been too lazy to remove mine...
There's a way to disable the seatbelt chime that seems to go on forever!
Luckily mine was already disabled when I got mine.
It has been discussed here before. Something with cycling the key in the ignition or something.
I'm sure that someone here who has already done it will chime in.

Not preaching. As we are adults and decide for ourselves. My seatbelt minder makes no sound as I wear mine. It is a fine here if not wearing so i just don't give them the chance. But i do believe there is a key and ignition code to cycle that may stop it. Crown vice had a code to eliminate.

Both of my crown Vic's had it disabled as well.

My 05 crown Vic's is disabled but my 01's wasn't.

I had for gotten about the procedure in the owner's manual for disabling the belt minder chime. I always wear my seatbelt so it isn't an issue for me, but I still want all the other damn noises stopped. Where's my wiring diagram?
Found it...looks like cutting the BK/PK wire to pin 3 on connector C2145c at the LCM will stop the chime for the key-in-ignition.

disabled it as soon as i purchased the car.
its in the manual... if i recall u turn the key to the on position and buckle and unbuckle the the seat belt a few times within a certain amount of time. make sure u do it for the driver side and the passenger side. I wasnt concerned with disabling the passenger side at first ... but when others would ride it would still go off if they werent buckled in.

Ha, Ha, Ha .... people think that Gun Control is a good idea; but after 40+ years we still have people who won't wear seatbelts. There's a minder chime in the MM?? I must not hear it or it doesn't bother me in the least. ;) Now the one in the Taurus SHO is really irritating. :P

When I want to be extra-safe, I use one from a motorcycle; I figure that motorcycles are a lot more dangerous than cars, so they must have super good seatbelts ;)

What I do to stop the seatbelt alarm is. When I start driving all I do is buckle my seatbelt and then unbuckle it and it stops the alarm. But every time you put the car in park and then start driving again the alarm will start going off again. All you have to do is
Buckle and unbuckle to make it stop.

Well I refuse to wear it so the noise must go. Ill be looking into the lcm through the wiring diagrams as well as the manual. I wont disable all noise because some are helpful like the key in ignition ding. Seat belts suck. I wore one in a really bad accident that cause more harm than good and then was in one with no seat belt and walked away from a burning car..

you can wrap the seat belt behind the driver seat and buckle it in that way & won't have to worry about the ding.
I don't condone this but it's a way to get rid of the dings w/out having to do that cycling/key on/key off/buckle/un buckle

Ha, Ha, Ha ^^^^^. I did this in my '74 Dodge Charger SE some 38 years ago. The dealer used to use that trick to move the cars around the lot. When my car was delivered, they mistakenly left the buckle end inserted in the catch. I used it for about 6 months while I was still resisting the seatbelt thing.
When I had the car shipped to Germany in February 1975, I found out that a seatbelt violation there would result in a DM 200 (Deutsche Mark) fine. That was about $100.00 at the time. Big money for me back then. So, I have been wearing my seatbelt ever since. Now it is second nature.

FAIL!
So no seatbelt.... great way to get ejected in a rollover, you'll be bouncing around like a pin ball injuring the other people in the car with you, you will get badly injured or killed increasing insurance costs for all of us...... Oh that's right... you drive with no insurance so the extra cost won't affect YOU!
The figures are familiar: 40,000 people die each year in car accidents, the leading cause of death for people under the age of 35. Safety belts can prevent death in about half of these accidents. If you know this and are still not wearing a safety belt, you may need to ask yourself why not. But first, let's look at what happens when a car crashes.
The Human Collision
Imagine running as fast as you can - into a wall. You'd expect to get pretty banged up. Do you think you could stop yourself if the wall suddenly loomed up when you were two feet away from it? This is exactly the situation you face when the front of your car hits something at only 15 miles an hour. The car stops in the first tenth of a second, but you keep on at the same rate you were going in the car until something stops you - the steering wheel, dashboard or windshield - if you're not wearing your safety belt.. Bad enough at 15 miles an hour, but a 30 miles you hit "the wall" four times as hard as you would at 15. Or to put it another way, with the same impact you'd feel as if you fell three stories.
A properly worn safety belt keeps that second collision - the human collision - from happening.
Wear It Right
"Properly worn" means with both straps snugly fitted to transfer the impact of the collision to the parts of your body that can take it - your hipbones and shoulder bones. With just the shoulder strap on, you can still slide out from under it and be strangled, while the lap belt alone doesn't keep your face from hitting the steering wheel.
What's Your Reason For Not Wearing One?
"I'm only going to the shopping center." Actually, this is the best time to wear a safety belt, since 80% of traffic fatalities occur within 25 miles of home and under 40 miles an hour.
"I won't be in an accident: I'm a good driver." Your good driving record will certainly help you avoid accidents. But even if you're a good driver, a bad driver may still hit you.
"I'll just brace myself." Even if you had the split-second timing to do this, the force of the impact would shatter the arm or leg you used to brace yourself.
"I'm afraid the belt will trap me in the car." Statistically, the best place to be during an accident is in your car. If you're thrown out of the car, you're 25 times more likely to die. And if you need to get out of the car in a hurry - as in the extremely tiny percent of accidents involving fire or submergence - you can get out a lot faster if you haven't been knocked unconscious inside your car.
"They're uncomfortable." Actually, modern safety belts can be made so comfortable that you may wonder if they really work. Most of them give when you move - a device locks them in place only when the car stops suddenly. You can put a little bit of slack in most belts simply by pulling on the shoulder strap. Others come with comfort clips, which hold the belt in a slightly slackened position. If the belt won't fit around you, you can get a belt extender at most car dealerships.
"I don't need a belt - I've got an airbag." Lucky you! An air bag increases the effectiveness of a safety belt by 40 percent. But air bags were never meant to be used in place of safety belts, since they don't protect against side impacts at all.

Had to do some looking and
Here you go from 2004 Crown Vic manual and should be the same for our Marauders:
One time disable
Any time the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an
ignition ON cycle, the BeltMinder will be disabled for that ignition cycle
only.
Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature
Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.
The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the
following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
• The parking brake is set
• The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission)
• The ignition switch is in the OFF position
• All vehicle doors are closed
• The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled
2004 Crown Victoria (cro)
Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt)
USA English (fus)
Seating and Safety Restraints
102
• The parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position (If vehicle is equipped
with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure.)
To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt
Minder feature while driving the vehicle.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2
minutes)
• Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during BeltMinder
warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the parklamps/headlamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled.
• After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off,
buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
• This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently enabled, or enable
BeltMinder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided by flashing the safety
belt warning light four times per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided by flashing the safety
belt warning light four times per second for three seconds, followed by
three seconds with the safety belt warning light off, then followed by
flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three
seconds again.
9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is
complete.

I always hated seatbelts, until several years ago.
Maybe it's my age, I dunno?
They no longer bother me and wear them religiously.
They keep us safe in the event of an accident and from getting lit up and paying a fine.
Wear them.

Seat belt extenders. They're made for fluffy type folks but people use them for this purpose...personally I wear my damn seatbelt but not jumping in that argument. You can get them at your local Ford dealer and they are FREE, yep ford provides them at no cost.
Or you can cut wires to your LCM
or you can unsolder the thing out of your LCM
or you can do the program thing
Or...you can put on your seatbelt.

I just noticed you are 20 years old, and already trying to defeat safety reminders in an automobile.
With the effort you are putting forth in circumventing this particulat safety feature, keep this in mind...
Seatbelts are designed to keep you in place, and in the event the bags deploy, they protect you.
When you fly thru the widshield, nothing protects you whatsoever.
Furthermore, it is so wrong for parents to bury their young.
Moreso, over something foolish.

For everyone lecturing me about wearing my seat belt.. I was in a 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse going 132 mph when someone clipped me and put me into a median. No seat belts and I walked away with a cut above my eye and some bruises on my knees because I had about 2 or 3 LONG seconds before the wall. During that time I lowered myself under the dash and used my legs and arms to throw myself backwards when the impact occured. I have been in plenty of accidents before and also have survived some bad stuff.
2011 I was riding shotgun in a 2011 mustang with a female driving (first mistake) when she hydroplaned into a spinning frenzy resulting in my side being slammed into a wall then a metal barrier. Oh yea this was at 125 mph in severe rain. I didnt even get bruised from that. Ill be fine and seatbelts can suck on my :banana2: haha

My dad passed in 2011 but my mom knows. She saw me in the marauder racing. This may be hard to believe but she got pulled over the day I bought my SB because we were speeding and I happened to see the cop first.

Ill look for the police report. It was march 2010 and I had an undercover cop with a dash cambehind me thats the only way to prove it because he got me at 120 about a minute before the accident because I was moving through traffic too quickly. They said 150 yards and 5 spins of tire tracks.

I tried to disable it many times on my 04 with no luck. I know others who have tried on their 04 as well with no luck.
I wear my seat-belts all the time ever since I was a kid. And if an adult gets in the passenger seat and doesn't put it on i make them. I tell them as long as they are in my car I am responsible for them. Every child under 21 wears a belt no matter where they sit in my car - I wear belts in any car any seat all the time.
on soap box :soap:
I do know someone who flipped their car into a creek and couldn't release their belt, ended up drowning in two feet of water - it does happen but seat-belts save way more lives than they don't!
To our 20 year old friend (My04Rawder) you should head to a race track and take your speed out on the track not the dangers of the highway - do a search on this site about some unfortunate incidents - speed kills. Two accidents at 100+ is past pushing your luck - just saying.

...I cut the seat belts out of my 88 monte carlo so when i got pulled over...
I was in a 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse going 132 mph when someone clipped me... I have been in plenty of accidents before and also have survived some bad stuff.
2011 I was riding shotgun in a 2011 mustang... ...when she hydroplaned into a spinning frenzy... Oh yea this was at 125 mph in severe rain.
...I had an undercover cop with a dash cambehind me thats the only way to prove it because he got me at 120 about a minute before the accident because I was moving through traffic too quickly.

Meh. Wear it. Don't wear it. You have a choice.
You, my family, and me probably travel some of the same roads. We'd like a choice too. Not to be involved in any of your high-speed engagements on those same roads and become another one of the 'plenty of accidents' you invincibly walk away from.
It isn't the risk you are willing with to take with yourself that bothers me. It is your obvious disregard for anyone else travelling the roads with you that does.

Well ive never hit anyone else in my car. Ive never hurt anyone else and if im speeding its normally only a few miles over just so I can get to work on time or somewhere important. I have been trying to not drive like an ass but I usually cant help it. Im not going to go to a track that lets me go 0-90 in 5 minutes in the quarter mile. I dont have a drag car and im not paying hundreds of dollars to do a single lap. WHEN I drive my marauder its normally not fast and I normally dont drive recklessly. I like adrenaline and I also like to drive fast. This thread wasnt supposed to get to this.
Whether or not I wear my seatbelt is entirely my decision. If I get a ticket for not wearing it whose fault is that?
I dont drive in maryland and normally nowhere south of philly so if we share the same roads then just look for me and let me know im driving too crazy for the conditions.

yes the thread shouldn't have come to this but YOU brought up reckless driving many times, most of us all like adrenaline - that's the nature of being human, we were all your age at one time, we want you to make it to our age and as agentM79 said not harm, hurt or kill someone else.
I was talking about a road course but even a drag strip would work. At a road course you would drive around constantly for 20 - 30 minutes doing dozens of laps, believe me you will be relieved when the first round is over, its tiring. I do understand cost so this spring go to a local autocross event.
There is an old race saying - it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow - in other-words taking a marauder around a tight track at 15 - 40 mph seems like going 100 - check the gingerman thread out from MM X, many folks who never ran their car on a road course found a new enjoyment out of their car.

Actually could you go to walmart or like home depot and get any random rubber like floor mat or place mat that could easy sha ke dirt off? Reason for that is because id prefer to be buried with melted rubber over my coffin instead of dirt so what you need to do is get two of those mats and find a nice big empty parking lot and drop those two mats behind your rear tires and collect your portion of my rubber soil. Throw it in a bag and id be happy with that. I pay for accidental health insurance so I should be covered when my car explodes. Thanks for the donation !

I'm sure I'll get razzed for this but if you can't get your seat belt on in an MM you've got more things to worry about than getting into an accident like a heart attack. Seriously, my mom is 350 and she can get the belt on fine in my car. (it may lean to one side until the airbag compressor kicks on.) But it still works.

I dont care about the laws and tickets that ill get for.breaking the seat belt law because I dont wear one, ever. If there was no information to be shared then it didnt need to be said.
